CAMPERS COME FROM LOCAL HOMELESS AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS OR ARE CHILDREN OF CLIENTS SEEKING HELP FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE THROUGH RECOVERY RESOURCE COUNCIL. THROUGH A NEAR 1:1 INSTRUCTOR TO CAMPER RATIO, THE CHILDREN LEAVE MORE RESILIENT WITH LIFE SKILLS TO HELP THEM MAKE HEALTHY LIFE CHOICES AND THE ABILITY TO BETTER COMMUNICATE THEIR STRUGGLES. THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, THEY ALSO PARTICIPATE IN TRUE CAMP ACTIVITIES SUCH AS FISHING AND HORSEBACK RIDING, WHICH FOR MOST OF THE CHILDREN ARE NEW EXPERIENCES.D) OUTREACH, SCREENING ASSESSMENT AND REFERRAL- IN FY 2010 WE SCREENED AND ASSESSED JUST OVER 4,000 ADULTS AND YOUTH; A NEARLY 20% INCREASE OVER OUR PERFORMANCE IN FY 2009. THAT INCREASE CAME FROM ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE CITY OF FORT WORTH TO EXPAND SERVICES FOR THE HOMELESS AND OUR WORK WITH DRUG COURTS. WE CONTINUED TO OFFER SERVICES AND ACCESS TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT TO MEDICALLY INDIGENT RESIDENTS IN 12 COUNTIES AT HOMELESS SHELTERS, CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES, LOCAL JAILS AND PROBATION OFFICES.
