| Desc | To address the needs of the most vulnerable residents of San Diego County, CCLC provided free legal services to indigent immigrants with legitimate claims to immigration relief. The three largest program areas were (1) Unaccompanied children (all those detained by immigration authorities as well as non-detained children identified in the community); (2) Victims of domestic violence and other serious crimes; and (3) Asylum seekers who have fled their homeland due to persecution or torture. In 2013, Casa Cornelia met with a record number of clients, largely as a result of the growing number of unaccompanied children entering the United States fleeing extreme violence and abuse in their home countries. In that year, CCLC served 1,310 individuals: 478 children, 494 victims of domestic violence, and 338 asylum seekers. | Desc |
