The three largest program areas were (1) Unaccompanied children (all those detained by immigration authorities as well as non-detained children identified in the community); (2) Victims of domestic violence and other serious crimes; and (3) Asylum seekers who have fled their homeland due to persecution or torture. In 2013, Casa Cornelia met with a record number of clients, largely as a result of the growing number of unaccompanied children entering the United States fleeing extreme violence and abuse in their home countries.
