Part X, Line 2:Planned Parenthood Shasta-Diablo, Inc. is exempt from taxation under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701d. Generally accepted accounting principles provide accounting and disclosure guidance about positions taken by an organization in its tax returns that might be uncertain. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken by the organization in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. The organization's returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three and four years, respectively, after they are filed.
Part XI, Line 2d - Other Adjustments:Change in value in interest on investment in net assets 4,348.
Part V, line 1b:The organizations' Board revised the investment policies in March 2017 to reallocate the majority of the endowment funds into a general investment account that can be used for general operating purposes. The negative contribution amount of $3,736,972 on Line 1b reflects a) actual contributions of $940,240 into the endowment account, minus b) $4,677,212 that was transferred into the general investment account in March 2017. Prior to March 2017, the Board established three separate endowment funds: Public Affairs Endowment, CSE (Community Services and Education) Endowment, and Public Affairs Contingency. Whenever a bequest was received, it was allocated to all three funds accordingly: Public Affairs Endowment (40%), CSE Endowment (40%), and Public Affairs Contingency (20%).
