| Description | PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:Subscription series and other Classics concerts:-28 Classical & 12 Pops concerts.-Repeat of select Classics concerts in high schools around San Antonio.Free community concerts:-Salute to Service - Veterans Day Concert.-Free neighborhood concerts and community engagement events in all the city districts throughout the season.-Side-by-Side concert with the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio.-Young Composers Competition-Future Stars Concerto Competition-Paint to Music competition.Special Concerts:-The Nutcracker in collaboration with Arts San Antonio.-Summer Sunday afternoon radio broadcasts of 10 Classics concerts on Texas Public Radio, reaching 18,000 listeners.-Traveled to cities surrounding San Antonio including Kerrville and Beeville.Music Matters! is our scholarship fund that provides transportation and tickets to Title 1 and low-income schools to attend our many educational concerts and world-class performances. Community Engagement ranges from in-classroom performances to educational workshops at local schools and nonprofit organizations. AT&T Music Scholars program brings musicians into Edgewood Academy, Lanier and Highlands High Schools music departments to mentor students with private and group instruction. Symphony musicians and high school music students come together for end-of-term collaborative performances that are open for the whole community.Beyond Traditional Concerts: -150 Community Engagement Performances/Activities including master classes, mentoring, Instrument Petting Zoo, and Mascot Appearances.The Symphony in the Community: - Orchestras Feeding America food drive collecting 33,000 pounds of food for the San Antonio Food Bank.- Diaper drive collecting 7,500 diapers (250 packages) for The Children's Shelter.- Toy drive for the San Antonio Police Department's Blue Santa program, collecting 700 toys.- Book drive for San Antonio Public Library.- Donation of complimentary tickets for non-profit organizations | Description |
