THE MISSION OF THE GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE IS TO ENRICH THE CULTURAL LIFE OF GREATER LOS ANGELES AND THE UCLA COMMUNITY THROUGH PLAYS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT INFORM, ENTERTAIN AND INSPIRE OTHERS. TO HELP MEET ITS MISSION, THE GEFFEN FOSTERS AN ACTIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LOS ANGELES ENTERTAINMENT AND OFFERS A SUPPORTIVE, INVITING ENVIRONMENT FOR ARTISTS AND THEATER PROFESSIONALS.LAUNCHED IN 1994, THE GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE BLOSSOMED FROM A WESTSIDE PRESENTING HOUSE TO A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ARTS INSTITUTION. UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF GIL CATES, THE GEFFEN HAS GROWN INTO A VIBRANT CULTURAL LANDMARK ON THE WESTSIDE OF LOS ANGELES.THE COMPANY HAS PRESENTED A REPERTOIRE OF AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTIONS THAT HAVE EARNED CRITICAL ACCLAIM AND INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION. THE GEFFEN HAS PRODUCED AMERICAN AND WORLD PREMIERES OF SOME OF THE MOST CHALLENGING WORK ON THE CONTEMPORARY STAGE. THE GEFFEN'S CONSISTENTLY HIGH LEVEL OF PRODUCTION HAS ATTRACTED NUMEROUS ARTISTS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, MANY OF WHOM HAVE BEEN HONORED BY TONY, EMMY, AND ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATIONS. NOW CELEBRATING OUR 11TH SEASON, THE GEFFEN HAS PRODUCED 9 WORLD PREMIERES, 4 TONY, 4 PULITZER, AND 7 OBIE AWARD-WINNING SHOWS.ON JUNE 10TH, 2004, THE GEFFEN BROKE GROUND FOR ITS $25 MILLIOM CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO RENOVATE AND EXPAND THE MAIN AUDITORIUM, CONSTRUCT THE AUDREY SKIRBALL KENIS THEATER, AN INTIMATE 120-SEAT ADDITION THAT SERVES AS A SECOND STAGE, AND CREATE A PERMANENT ENDOWMENT. SOME OF THE RENOVATIONS INCLUDED RECONFIGURING OF THE MAIN STAGE, INSTALLATION OF AN ELEVATOR, STATE-OF-THE-ART HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS, EXPANDED DRESSING ROOMS AND GREEN ROOM FOR ARTISTS, AND EXPANDED OFFICE SPACE TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF THE COMPANY. THE NEW SEATING PLAN INCREASES COMFORT AND IMPROVES SIGHT LINES. STAIRS LEADING TO THE MAIN STAGE AUDITORIUM WERE ELIMINATED TO INCREASE ACCESSIBILITY. THE AUDREY SKIRBALL KENIS THEATER AT THE GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE GIVES OUR THEATER THE RICH OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT NEW PLAYS, DEVELOP ORIGINAL AND EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTIONS, AND EXPAND OUR EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS. | PART XII & XIII, LINE 2D: OTHER EXPENSES OF $257,473 CONSISTS OF COST OF GOODS SOLD $32,628 AND DIRECT EXPENSES OF FUNDRAISING $224,845 PART X: In June 2006, FASB Interpretation No. 48 ("FIN 48"), "Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes - An Interpretation of SFAS No. 109," was issued. FIN 48 clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an enterprise's financial statements in accordance with SFAS No. 109, "Accounting for Income Taxes." FIN 48 also prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. In addition, FIN 48 provides guidance on derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, disclosure and transition. FSP FIN 48-3 deferred adoption for most nonpublic enterprises to annual periods beginning after December 15, 2008. Many not-for-profit entities have not previously applied the provisions of SFAS No. 109 and during the deferral period the FASB plans to issue guidance on how to apply the provisions of FIN 48 to these entities. Management will evaluate the financial impact of applying the provisions of FIN 48 to all tax positions when the FASB guidance becomes available. |
