| Primary Exempt Purpose | The mission of Imagine Science Films Corp is to promote a high-level dialogue between scientists and filmmakers. This is achieved by encouraging a greater collaboration between scientists who dedicate their lives to studying the world we live in and filmmakers who have the power to interpret and expose this knowledge, ultimately making science accessible and stimulating to a broader audience. | Description Program Service Accom | In 2011, Imagine Science Films Corp held its 4th Annual New York Imagine Science Film Festival from Oct 14-21, 2011. 2011 year's film program is the largest to-date, and included 80 films from 15 different countries. With new events, panels and receptions, the 2011 festival offered an exciting eight days filled with science and cinema. Aging, immortality, and space were the program themes, with evenings devoted to avant-garde science shorts, documentaries, real footage from lab experiments, discussions about humanizing science through its depiction in film, and an afternoon of child-friendly science based films.ISFF screenings took place at venues throughout the five boroughs of New York, opening at Museum of Moving Image on October 14th and closing at Symphony Space on October 21st. Other venues include indieScreen, Anthology Film Archives, the New York Hall of Science, CUNY Graduate Center, The Bell House, and the New York Academy of Science.Our main sponsors included the founding Science/AAAS, Nature Publishing Group and Vimeo. Google, Center for Inquiry, Stevens Institute of Technology, Chroma Technology were new sponsors. For 2011, approximately 2,000 (double from previous year) attended the screenings and over 80,000 visited our website for the year. In addition, four awards totaling $5,500 were given out to four recipients for the Nature People's Choice, AAAS Scientist Award and Imaginal Disc Visual Science Award.In 2011, Imagine Science Films also kicked off its Satellite Outreach programs hoping to spread science films around the world. It established a partnership with University of College Dublin for a 2012 Imagine Science Dublin festival. Dublin will be the first of many Imagine Science Satellite partners.
