| Description | During the past year Habitat for Humanity Seattle/South King County engaged over 2,123 volunteers who contributed over 27,506 hours to support various affordable housing solutions including the construction of 5 new homes, renovation of 8 acquired foreclosed bank owned properties and the repair of 3 owner-occupied homes. This work was completed to meet LEED Gold and Built Green Standards. Our technical assistance program provided training to 17 households in 56 separate classes in the areas of energy conservation, financial management and home repair and maintenance.We engaged hundreds of volunteers to support neighborhood cleanup efforts in two neighborhoods. Our Store diverted 517 tons of material from the landfill and provided an affordable resource for donated or heavily discounted building materials to community residents and other associated affordable housing providers.Through our partners we supported 154 individuals who are at-risk or formerly homeless, disabled or struggle with the English language gain meaningful job skills training at our jobsites and retail outlet. | Description |

Habitat qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a)(1). Sales tax from the Habitat Store sales collected and remitted to the State of Washington and local entities was $69,133 and $68,570 for the years ended June 30, 2012 and 2011, respectively. Habitat's income tax filings are subject to examination by various taxing authorities. Habitat's open examination periods are 2008 and thereafter.
