| Desc | Humanitarian assistance to the Democratic Republic of Congo:Provide funds to help support a 235-bed hospital and maternity/pediatric clinic. Our Lady of Hope Hospital and Clinic provide healthcare to almost 26,000 people at a nominal charge of $1 in 2013.Provide funds to support teachers and students at two elementary schools and one secondary school. St. Stephen Primary and Secondary schools educate 1400 children and Buloba Primary School serves over 700 children in 2013. Provide funds to support the feeding of 137 children at five orphanages for 62 days and the education of 119 orphans: 77at primary school, 41 at secondary school as well as one university student in 2013. Provide funds to support an agricultural farm which planted and cultivated foodstuffs and livestock. In 2013 30 hectares were cultivated and 21 head of cattle were added to the farm. Many children and poor benefitted from the food. Provide funds for the restoration of one rural village church. It serves the spiritual needs of over 1000 people. The efforts of Congo Relief Mission are for the benefit of people in extreme poverty, receiving less than $1.50/day or $400/year. The hospital, clinic, schools, farm, and orphanages serve the city of Mbujimayi. Mbujimayi is located in the center-south region of Congo, in the Eastern Kasai region. The third largest city in Congo, Mbujimayi, has a population of more than three million people. It is a largely underdeveloped area with a total lack of basic infrastructure. Only a small percentage of the people have access to electricity and running water. Conflict, political uncertainty, and economic collapse have left many people without basic essentials, especially women and children. The hospital, clinic, schools, farm, and orphanages help the most vulnerable members of society. | Desc |
