| Desc | In 2013, the APL assisted more than 14,000 animals through a variety of programs and services. The APL's humane investigations department opened nearly 1,200 new cases in response to reports of animal cruelty and rescued over 560 animals from abuse or neglect. Through the adoption program, over 6,300 animals were placed into new homes. Through the transfer program, nearly 1,400 animals came into the APL from overcrowded shelters so they could go up for adoption. Through the APL Shelter Clinic and Animal Welfare Spay/Neuter Clinic, over 10,800 animals were sterilized, including more than 4,800 stray cats through the Trap-Neuter-Return program. Finally, the Second Chance Program allowed the APL's veterinary team to provide medical care to homeless animals who had treatable illnesses and injuries. | Desc |
