| Explanation | Board designated endowment funds are used at the discretion of the Board, and may vary from time-to-time. Interest and dividends earned on donor-restricted endowment funds are used for the purpose stipulated by the donors. Due to the relatively small size of its endowment, the School has not enacted a policy of spending principal or principal appreciation of the funds (absent donor requirements to the contrary). FIN 48 (ASC 740) Footnote Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The School follows authoritative guidance related to uncertain tax positions. The school recognizes accrued interest and penalties associated with uncertain tax positions as part of the income tax provision, when applicable. The School has no uncertain tax positions or amounts accrued in the financial statements related to uncertain tax positions at June 30, 2013. All tax-exempt entities are subject to review and audit by federal, state and other applicable agencies. Such agencies may review the taxability of unrelated business income, or the qualification of the organization as a tax-exempt entity under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and applicable state statutes. As of June 30, 2013, the federal statute of limitations remains open for the 2010 through 2013 tax years. The statute of limitations for the state income tax remains open for 2009 through 2013 tax years.
