| Description | THE OPEN DOOR SHELTER ADDRESSES THE COMPLEX NEEDS OF THE HOMELESS AND IMPOVERISHED BY PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING CRITICAL SERVICES: CASE MANAGEMENT, SOUP KITCHEN, FOOD PANTRY, CLOTHING, PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING, AFFORDABLE HOUSING, OUTREACH, AND JOB TRAINING. LAST YEAR THE SHELTER PROVIDED 28,358 BED NIGHTS FOR THE NEEDY; SERVED 144,388 MEALS FROM ITS SOUP KITCHEN, SUPPLIED 304,429 MEALS THROUGH ITS FOOD PANTRY (SERVING OVER 7,200 INDIVIDUALS); GAVE OUT CLOTHING; PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO 1,277 POVERTY STRICKEN INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES; DELIVERED OUTREACH SERVICES TO OVER 100 HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS; ASSISTED 17 INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES WITH IMPROVING THEIR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES; ASSISTED 10 DISPLACED FAMILIES TO OBTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING; PROVIDED ACCOMMODATIONS AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO 11 CHRONICALLY HOMELESS ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS; AND PROVIDED 16 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME EARNING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. THE SHELTER'S HOURS ARE FROM 5:30 PM TO 9:00 AM FOR SINGLE RESIDENTS AND 24 HOURS A DAY FOR FAMILIES. IT IS OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.THE SHELTER IS PART OF A NETWORK OF SERVICES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. SHELTER CASE MANAGERS INTERVIEW AND WORK WITH EACH RESIDENT TO HELP THEM SEARCH FOR HOUSING, JOBS, JOB TRAINING, AND APPROPRIATE COUNSELING AND TREATMENT.
