OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS, THE PROGRAM HAS GROWN AND FOCUSED SPECIFICALLY ON SERVING OKLAHOMA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT ATHLETICS BY IMPROVING THEIR ATHLETIC FACILITIES, PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR THEIR COACHING STAFF AND ASSISTING THEIR STUDENTS TOWARD BRIGHTER FUTURES. IN 2013, THE ORGANIZATION CELEBRATED A NEW FIELD OPENING AT WEBSTER MIDDLE SCHOOL, HELD THREE COACH APPRECIATION BANQUETS AND TWO COACHING CLINICS, LAUNCHED A MENTORING PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ATHLETES AND IMPLEMENTED A CHARACTER-BASED RECOGNITION PROGRAM FOR COACHES AND THEIR STUDENT-ATHLETES IN SEVERAL SCHOOLS. PRIOR TO THE YEAR END, THE ORGANIZATION SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED ITS NEXT FIELD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, CAPITOL HILL HIGH SCHOOL. THE ESTIMATED PROJECT BUDGET IS APPROXIMATELY $525,000 AND WILL COMPLETELY RE-CONSTRUCT THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL COMPLEXES. In 2013, Fields and Futures Foundation was incorporated within the Oklahoma Secretary of State and has filed Form 1023, Application for Recognition of Exemption with the IRS. It is expected in calendar year 2014 for the program to transfer entirely over to this new legal entity, after receiving a qualifying determination letter from the IRS. The necessary procedures to establish proper bylaws, board governance, financial policies, and employment practices for the subsequent entity have been completed. |
