IN 2014, JILEP PROVIDED TRAININGS FOR 343 JUDGES, JUDGE-CANDIDATES, AND COURT PERSONNEL. JILEP SUPPORTED IMPLEMENTATION OF 14 GRANTS AND CAMPAIGNS, BY LOCAL NGOS AND THE COALITION FOR INDEPENDENT AND TRANSPARENT JUDICIARY TO PROMOTE GREATER INDEPENDENCE OF THE JUDICIARY, AND GREATER FAIRNESS AND TRANSPARENCY OF THE COURTS. JILEP ALSO CONTINUED MONITORING AND SUPPORTING 7 NGOS, THROUGH GRANTS WHICH WERE DELIVERED IN 2013 BUT ARE ONGOING, TO HELP THEM DELIVER LEGAL AID TO ELEMENTS OF THE GEORGIAN POPULATION MOST IN NEED. IN FY 2014, 23,224 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED LEGAL ADVICE AND REPRESENTATION FROM THESE NGOS THROUGH JILEP FUNDING. IN THE AREA OF LEGAL TRAINING, JILEP HELPED THE GEORGIAN BAR ASSOCIATION (GBA) TRAIN 5,042 MEMBERS ON LEGAL ETHICS AND OTHER DISCIPLINES. IT ALSO TRAINED 275 PROFESSORS AND 593 LAW STUDENTS ON A VARIETY OF ISSUES RELATING TO TEACHING TECHNIQUES, MEDIATION, AND COMMERCIAL LAW. IN 2014, GPAC AWARDED 56 GRANTS TO CSOS, THINK TANKS, CSO NETWORKS, PARTNERS, UNIVERSITIES, AND STUDENTS, TOTALING $1 MILLION USD. THE PROJECT TRAINED 665 CSO REPRESENTATIVES; ENGAGED 8 MENTORS WHO MENTORED 10 ORGANIZATIONS; SUCCEEDED IN FACILITATING A LANDMARK MOU ON COOPERATION BETWEEN CSOS AND THE PARLIAMENT; AND WORKED TO DEVELOP A STRONG AND VIBRANT MIDDLE-CLASS OF 22 CSOS (BOTH REGIONAL AND TBILISI-BASED) WITH CLOSER COMMUNITY TIES AND STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS. THROUGH EWMI G-PAC-SUPPORTED ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS, 4,788 CITIZENS PARTICIPATED IN GRANTEE-ORGANIZED ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING MEETING WITH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, SIGNING PETITIONS, OR PARTICIPATING IN PUBLIC MEETINGS. MOREOVER, EWMI G-PAC AND ITS LOCAL PARTNER THE CIVIL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (CIDA) SOLIDIFIED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE REGIONAL CIVIL SOCIETY NETWORK (R-CSN), WHICH UNITES MORE THAN 48 ACTIVE REGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS FROM 11 REGIONS IN GEORGIA WORKING ON ISSUES OF MUTUAL CONCERN IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. FINALLY, IN 2014, THE MASTERS' DEGREE PROGRAM IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (MPA) ESTABLISHED AT ILIA STATE UNIVERSITY GRADUATED ITS FIRST 29 STUDENTS, ALL OF WHOM ARE EMPLOYED OR PURSUING FURTHER STUDY, AND 76% OF WHOM WORK IN RELEVANT POSITIONS IN THE PUBLIC AND CIVIL SOCIETY SECTORS. APPLICATIONS HAVE INCREASED EVERY YEAR, AND BETWEEN THE FIRST AND MOST RECENT RECRUITING CYCLES THEY INCREASED BY 103%, FROM 116 TO 235. THIS LARGE INCREASE HAS ALLOWED THE MPA PROGRAM TO INCREASE ITS COHORT SIZE FROM 25 TO 30 WHILE BECOMING EVEN MORE SELECTIVE.
