DescAMERICAN BIBLE SOCIETY ("ABS") BRINGS GOD'S WORD WHERE IT'S NEEDED MOST. WE LONG FOR A WORLD WHERE EVERY GENERATION WHOLEHEARTEDLY EMBRACES GOD'S WORD, WHERE THE HOPES OF YOUNG PEOPLE HERE IN AMERICA AND MILLIONS MORE ACROSS THE GLOBE ARE TRANSFORMED BY THE LIVING HOPE FOUND IN THE BIBLE, WHERE PEOPLE AROUND THE GLOBE WILL BE ABLE TO READ GOD'S WORD IN THEIR OWN HEART LANGUAGE AND CITIES WILL BE TRANSFORMED BY ITS TEACHINGS. JOIN US TO HELP MAKE THIS DREAM A REALITY. DOMESTIC PROGRAMS THROUGH OUR DOMESTIC PROGRAMS, WE ARE COMMITTED TO BRINGING A RENAISSANCE OF GOD'S WORD HERE IN AMERICA. ONE PRIMARY MEANS OF DOING THIS IS BY EXTENDING OUR REACH INTO CHURCHES, INVITING MILLIONS TO RECONSIDER AND RENEW THEIR ENGAGEMENT WITH GOD'S WORD. EQUIPPING AMERICA'S CHURCHES NEW YORK CITY LEADERSHIP CENTER CATALYZED LEADERSHIP TEAMS FROM AMERICA'S LARGEST CITIES TO SERVE MORE EFFECTIVELY THROUGH HIGH-LEVEL, CITY-CHANGING, COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS. MORE THAN 2,000 CHURCH LEADERS FROM 360 CITIES GATHERED FOR MOVEMENT DAY TO MAKE THE CASE FOR SCRIPTURE, PRAYER AND JOINT SERVICE AMONG CHRISTIANS. CHURCH LEADERS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF CITY MOVEMENTS WERE CHALLENGED TO ENGAGE WITH GOD'S WORD AND PRAY FOR 30 MINUTES EACH DAY. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH CONCERTS OF PRAYER GREATER NEW YORK AND THE NEW YORK CITY LEADERSHIP CENTER, ABS DEVELOPED "NOW IS THE TIME: ACTS." THIS 30-DAY READING CAMPAIGN FOCUSED ON THE BOOK OF ACTS AND INVITED CHURCHES TO READ THROUGH IT AS THEY PRAYED TO INCREASE BIBLE LITERACY AND SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. "NOW IS THE TIME: ACTS" LAUNCHED NATIONALLY AT MOVEMENT DAY IN OCTOBER. THE ACTS JOURNEY INCLUDES TRACKS FOR ADULTS, YOUTH AND CHILDREN. COMPANION MATERIALS INCLUDE READING PLANNERS, DISCUSSION GUIDES AND SERMON OUTLINES. CHURCHES ACROSS AMERICA PARTICIPATED, RESULTING IN MORE THAN 110,000 PEOPLE WHO JOURNEYED THROUGH "NOW IS THE TIME: ACTS." WILLOW CREEK ASSOCIATION AND ABS RENEWED ITS PARTNERSHIP TO ASSIST LEADERS IN STRENGTHENING THEIR SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS. THROUGH THE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT, ABS CONNECTED WITH MORE THAN 85,000 U.S. MINISTRY LEADERS WHO REPRESENT A DIVERSITY OF DENOMINATIONS, CULTURES, ETHNICITIES AND WORKPLACES. ABS AND WILLOW CREEK ASSOCIATION CONTINUED ITS COLLABORATION TO BRING SCRIPTURE RESOURCES TO LEADERS THAT WILL HELP THEM EFFECTIVELY ENGAGE THEIR CONGREGATIONS IN THE WORD. THE "WHERE'S YOUR CHAIR?" PROGRAM DEVELOPED INTO THE "SOLUTIONS" WEBPAGE. AMERICAN BIBLE SOCIETY'S "SOLUTIONS" WEBPAGE PROVIDES PASTORS, LEADERS AND THEIR PEOPLE WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO RETHINK, RESET AND REENGAGE SCRIPTURE. THE PAGE OFFERS LEADERSHIP CONVERSATIONS, VIDEO WEBCASTS AND BIBLICAL RESOURCES FOR CHURCHES. "WHERE'S YOUR CHAIR?" WAS DESIGNED TO CHALLENGE LEADERS TO RETHINK THE WAY THEY ENGAGE WITH SCRIPTURE AND, IN TURN, ENCOURAGE THEM TO FIND WAYS TO MAKE SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT CENTRAL IN THE LIVES OF THOSE TO WHOM THEY MINISTER. THE CHAIR SYMBOLIZES A TIME AND PLACE WHERE ONE MEETS WITH GOD EACH DAY TO READ HIS WORD AND PRAY. CONGREGANTS AT ALL LEVELS OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY ARE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND REFLECT ON SCRIPTURE TO GAIN MEANING IN THEIR LIVES. THE ULTIMATE GOAL FOR INDIVIDUALS, COMMUNITIES AND THE WORLD IS TO BE CHANGED BY THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD. ABS BICENTENNIAL: SYMPOSIUM CONNECTS ABS TO ACADEMIA LAST OCTOBER, THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF EVENTS TO MARK THE ABS BICENTENNIAL TOOK PLACE UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE NIDA INSTITUTE. JOINTLY HOSTED WiTH WHEATON COLLEGE, AN ACADEMIC SYMPOSIUM, "THE BIBLE AND DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA: AN INTERCONFESSIONAL CHRISTIAN CONVERSATION," WAS HELD ON THE CAMPUS OF WHEATON COLLEGE IN WHEATON, IL. OVER THE COURSE OF TWO DAYS, NEARLY 200 PEOPLE, FROM COLLEGE STUDENTS TO RETIREES, ATTENDED. THE DIVERSE GROUP OF SPEAKERS INCLUDED PROFESSOR MARTIN E. MARTY, FAIRFAX M. CONE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE PROFESSOR EMERITUS OF THE HISTORY OF MODERN CHRISTIANITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO DIVINITY SCHOOL. DR. MARTY DELIVERED THE KEYNOTE ADDRESSS, "THE BIBLE IN AMERICA: NOT AN ICON ON A WALL BUT AN ANIMATOR OF CIVIL LIFE," IN WHICH HE CHALLENGED ALL THOSE PRESENT TO "CRACK OPEN THE BOOK . . . IT'S AN ONGOING STORY AND WE'RE IN IT." AN EXCHANGE WITH THE PANELISTS FOLLOWED HIS REMARKS AND INCLUDED AN EXTENDED TIME OF QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE. IN THE FIRST ROUNDTABLE ACADEMICS EXPLORED "THE BIBLE, RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, AND THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE: THEN AND NOW." THE SECOND ROUNDTABLE, COMPOSED OF CHURCH LEADERS, SPOKE OF THE NEED TO ENGAGE WITH, AND UPHOLD OUR BIBLE TEXTS IN THE PLURALISTIC PUBLIC SQUARE. TWO WHEATON COLLEGE SENIORS, ONE ON EACH PANEL, CONTRIBUTED PERSPECTIVES FROM THEIR STUDIES IN BIBLE, THEOLOGY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE. AUDIENCE MEMBERS JOINED ANOTHER ROUND OF QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS THAT PROVED AS ENGAGING AS THE PANEL DISCUSSIONS. CATHOLIC MINISTRIES CATHOLIC MINISTRIES HAS INTENSIFIED ABS' FLAGSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH - LECTIO DIVINA - FOR ADULTS AND YOUTH. DURING THIS PAST FISCAL YEAR, 14 "TRAINING OF TRAINERS" WORKSHOPS WERE HELD. OUR LECTIO DIVINA MANUAL WAS TRANSLATED INTO ITALIAN BY THE LIBRERIA EDITRICE VATICANA, THE VATICAN PUBLISHING HOUSE. THE UNVEILING AND PRESENTATION OF THIS MANUAL TO POPE FRANCIS OCCURRED LAST FALL. ALL THREE VERSIONS (ITALIAN, ENGLISH AND SPANISH) ARE NOW CARRIED BY THE VATICAN PUBLISHING HOUSE. AT WORLD YOUTH DAY 2013 HELD IN RIO DE JANEIRO, MORE THAN 3.5 MILLION CATHOLIC YOUTH AND YOUTH MINISTERS GATHERED TO CELEBRATE THEIR FAITH. CATHOLIC MINISTRIES BROUGHT LECTIO DIVINA TO 125,000 YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH LARGE TRAINING SESSIONS OFFERED IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. THESE SESSIONS WERE LED BY ARCHBISHOPS AND CARDINALS, INCLUDING CARDINAL SEAN PATRICK O'MALLEY OF BOSTON. AN ABS/UBS BOOTH ALLOWED YOUNG PEOPLE TO TALK WITH YOUTH LEADERS WHERE 300,000 COPIES OF A SPECIAL IMPRINT GOSPEL OF LUKE IN THREE LANGUAGES WERE DISTRIBUTED. IN APRIL, OUR E100 MILITARY CATHOLIC BIBLE WITH LECTIO DIVINA WAS RELEASED. WITHIN THREE HOURS OF THE RELEASE, MORE THAN 4,000 COPIES WERE ORDERED, AND THE ENTIRE 10,000 COPIES WAS EXPENDED IN ONE WEEK. WE HAD TO PRINT 20,000 MORE TO MEET DEMAND. THIS BIBLE IS NOW THE OFFICIAL CATHOLIC BIBLE AT THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY, AS WELL AS AT THE MILITARY ACADEMY AT WEST POINT. CATHOLIC MINISTRIES PARTNERED WITH THE MILITARY ARCHDIOCESE FOR NATIONWIDE LECTIO DIVINA TRAINING EVENTS FOR MILITARY CHAPLAINS, PREPARING THEM TO SHARE THIS VALUABLE TOOL WITH THOUSANDS OF MILITARY UNITS HERE AND ABROAD. OUR EFFORTS TO OFFER SCHOLARLY BIBLICAL EDUCATION FOR CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP CONTINUE THROUGH OUR "BIBLE SUMMIT" PROGRAM. ALMOST 500 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED THE ANNUAL NORTHEAST REGIONAL SUMMIT IN NEW YORK CITY. PROMINENT SCHOLARS IN THE FIELD OF BIBLICAL STUDIES PRESENTED AT THE EVENT, WHICH ABS CO-SPONSORED WITH THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK. THE KEYNOTE SPEAKERS WERE THE REVEREND ANTHONY CIORRA (IN ENGLISH) AND THE GREGORIAN UNIVERSITY OF ROME'S DOCTOR NURIA CALDUCH-BENAGES (IN SPANISH). LAST FEBRUARY, CATHOLIC MINISTRIES ALSO PRESENTED ON BIBLICAL CATHOLIC RESOURCES AT THE THREE-DAY EVENT, "NEW YORK ENCOUNTER," AN ANNUAL CONVOCATION OF MORE THAN 6,000 CATHOLIC COLLEGE STUDENTS IN MANHATTAN. HIS EMINENCE CARDINAL RENATO MARTINO WAS HONORED BY ABS AT A SPECIAL RECEPTION HELD DURING THE EVENT. ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR WAS THE OPPORTUNTY FOR CATHOLIC MINISTRIES TO FACILITATE THE DONATION OF 25,000 BIBLES THAT WERE DISTRIBUTED IN THREE LOCATIONS IN CUBA. ORTHODOX FAMILY AND WEDDING BIBLE THE ARCHBISHOP IAKOVOS LEADERSHIP 100 ENDOWMENT FUND APPROVED A GRANT OF $50,000 TO CREATE AND PUBLISH AN ORTHODOX WEDDING AND FAMILY BIBLE DESIGNED IN THE ORTHODOX TRADITION AND GEARED TO MARRIED COUPLES AND THEIR FAMILIES. SINCE UNTIL NOW, THE ONLY FAMILY BIBLES AVAILABLE WERE PRODUCED IN GREEK, MANY GREEK ORTHODOX PARISHES IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRIBUTE PROTESTANT BIBLES TO NEWLY MARRIED COUPLES. THE ENDOWMENT FUNDS WILL BE USED TO LICENSE THE REVISED STANDARD VERSION ENGLISH-LANGUAGE TEXT AND TO PRINT 8,000 BIBLES. THE ARCHDIOCESE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND MINISTRY WILL COLLABORATE WITH ABS ON THIS PROJECT. ARMED SERVICES MINISTRY: ARMING THE MILITARY WITH SCRIPTURE FOR THE PAST 197 YEARS, ABS HAS SERVED THE ARMED FORCES BY OFFERING THE HOPE FOUND ONLY IN GOD'S WORD. AS OUR MILITARY CONTINUES TO FACE CHALLENGES ACROSS THE GLOBE, ARMED SERVICES MINISTRY (ASM) REMAINS STAUNCH IN ITS MISSION TO PROVIDE THE LIFE-CHANGING MESSAGE OF GOD'S WORD THROUGH SCRIPTURE AND CONTEXTUALIZED BIBLE STUDY MATERIALS. ASM SERVES THE ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVE, NATIONAL GUARD, COAST GUARD AND VETERAN COMMUNITIES, ALONG WITH THEIR FAMILIES. LAST YEAR A TOTAL OF 690,395 SCRIPTURE RESOURCES WERE PROVIDED. ASM IS THE MAIN SOURCE OF BIBLES AND SCRIPTURE RESOURCES FOR THOSE SERVED BY THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION. IT IS ALSO A SIGNIFICANT SOURCE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE. ASM BELIEVES THE MILITARY AND VETERAN CHAPLAINS WE SERVE SHOULD HAVE INPUT INTO THE SCRIPTURE RESOURCES WE PROVIDE. WE CONDesc

DescINTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS PARTNERING WITH NATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETIES AND OTHERS, WE DELIVER GOD'S WORD AROUND THE WORLD THROUGH OUR INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS. WE BRING HOPE ACROSS BARRIERS OF GEOGRAPHY, LANGUAGE, OPPRESSION AND INJUSTICE. WE ALSO ARE USING GOD'S WORD TO BRING HEALING TO THOSE WOUNDED BY TRAUMA IN PARTS OF THE WORLD AFFECTED BY VIOLENCE. NEXTGEN INTERNATIONAL ABS IS CONVENING GLOBAL LEADERS IN NATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETIES TO FOCUS THEIR MINISTRY ACTIVITIES ON BIBLE ENGAGEMENT WITH YOUTH AND CHILDREN. THIS IS CERTAINLY NOT A NEW FOCUS, PARTICULARLY IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH WHERE MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF THE POPULATION IS BELOW AGE 25. HOWEVER, THIS CALL IS FOR MORE INTENTIONAL JOINT PROGRAMMATIC ACTIVITY WHEREBY BIBLE SOCIETIES SHARE RESOURCES AND BEST PRACTICES, AS WELL AS PLAN AND FUND JOINT PROGRAMS. ABS HAS PARTNERED WITH THESE BIBLE SOCIETIES - AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO - TO PLAN, SHARE RESOURCES AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT PROGRAMS. "READ TO LIVE" - LATIN AMERICAN CLUSTER ABS INVITED NATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETIES THAT SHARE COMMON NEEDS TO CLUSTER, CREATING SYNERGY IN PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION. THIS ENABLED THE PROGRAM, "READ TO LIVE," A CLUSTER INITIATIVE IN LATIN AMERICA AMONG FIVE BIBLE SOCIETIES (BOLIVIA, CHILE, ECUADOR, PANAM AND PER), TO EXCHANGE RESOURCES, FACILITATE PLANNING AND SHARE FUNCTIONS. NEW MATERIALS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED IN SPANISH, QUECHUA, NGBE AND OTHER LANGUAGES. USING THESE MATERIALS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, THIS PROJECT EMPOWERS VICTIMS TO IMPROVE THEIR LITERACY AND THEREBY BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES AND TAKE MEASURES TO ADDRESS THEIR PROBLEMS. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - CARIBBEAN CLUSTER BUILDING ON THE SUCCESS IN LATIN AMERICA, A SIMILAR CLUSTER INVOLVES THE CARIBBEAN BIBLE SOCIETIES (SURINAME, HAITI, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES AND WEST INDIES). AS WITH LATIN AMERICA, THE FOCUS IS TO ADDRESS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. TO THAT END, STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE PARTNERED WITH VARIOUS NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO SENSITIZE THEIR COMMUNITIES. THEY ARE ALSO WORKING WITH CHILDREN, WOMEN AND THE POLICE TO HELP ERADICATE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND BRING COMFORT AND HOPE TO VICTIMS. WEST BALKAN PARTNERSHIP WITH HELP FROM ABS, THE WEST BALKAN PARTNERSHIP OF BIBLE SOCIETIES IS REACHING OUT TO LEADERS TO ENCOURAGE BIBLE USE IN THEIR CHURCHES. THIS PARTNERSHIP ALSO SERVES AS A CATALYST THROUGH WHICH THE BIBLE SOCIETIES DELIVER A SERIES OF PROGRAMS THAT HELP CHURCH MEMBERS REDISCOVER THEIR PASSION FOR GOD'S WORD AND ITS RELEVANCE FOR TODAY'S SOCIETY. SPECIFICALLY, THE "I READ THE WORD" CAMPAIGN IS ENCOURAGING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TO ENGAGE IN A 30-DAY BIBLE READING PLAN - FOLLOWED BY A 100-DAY PLAN - THAT WILL LEAD PARTICIPANTS TO ENGAGE WITH GOD'S WORD DAILY. LEBANON IN A YEAR MARKED BY TURBULENT CHANGE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, THE BIBLE SOCIETY OF LEBANON CONTINUED ITS PRODUCTION OF "THE BIBLE IS YOURS,"A SERIES OF 45-MINUTE EPISODES BROADCAST ON SECULAR AND CHRISTIAN SATELLITE TV ACROSS LEBANON AND THE ARAB WORLD. THESE PROGRAMS, FEATURING TESTIMONIES OF CULTURAL LEADERS AND DISCUSSION OF CURRENT TOPICS, ARE GEARED ESPECIALLY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE BIBLE SOCIETY AGAIN BROADCAST THE DOCUDRAMA, "A YEAR OF THE BIBLE," ON CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY. COMBINED, THESES PRODUCTIONS REACHED MILLIONS OF VIEWERS. CAMBODIA AND LAOS THESE COUNTRIES FORM PART OF OUR OUTREACH TO THE INDOCHINA REGION. OUR INTENT IS TO REACH THOSE UNDER AGE 25. YOUTH PROGRAMS, SUCH AS CONCERTS, BIBLE SUNDAY AND AGE-APPROPRIATE SCRIPTURE MATERIALS, HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO APPROXIMATELY 25,000 YOUNG PEOPLE IN BOTH COUNTRIES IN THE PAST YEAR. CHINA ABS VALUES THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING WITH THE CHINESE CHURCH AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THAT ALIGN WITH THE COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE BIBLES AND SCRIPTURE RESOURCES, AS WELL AS EQUIPPING LEADERS FOR MINISTRY TO MILLIONS OF BELIEVERS IN CHINA. THIS PAST YEAR, WE HAVE STEPPED UP OUR EFFORTS TO WORK WITH THE CHURCH TO PROVIDE SUNDAY SCHOOL MATERIALS FOR THE CHILDREN WHO COME TO CHURCH. CHILDREN'S MATERIALS WERE GIVEN TO MORE THAN 300 SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES, AND A PILOT PROGRAM TO TRAIN SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS WAS HELD. WE HAVE ALSO SUPPORTED 27 CHILDREN'S READING ROOMS ACROSS HENAN AND JIANGSU PROVINCES, WHERE MANY RURAL CHRISTIANS LIVE. THESE READING ROOMS ARE EQUIPPED WITH CHILDREN'S BIBLES, AND ABOUT 500 TITLES, MOSTLY BIBLE STORIES, BIBLE COMICS AND OTHER READING MATERIALS THAT PROMOTE BIBLICAL TEACHINGS. THESE READING ROOMS ARE USUALLY THE ONLY ONE OF THEIR KIND IN THE VILLAGE, TOWN OR CITY AND PROVIDE ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR THE CHURCH TO INVITE SEEKERS TO COME. THE LAUNCH OF A BIBLE APP CALLED DAILY MOMENTS ENCOURAGES THE DIGITALLY EQUIPPED IN CHINA TO ENGAGE WITH GOD'S WORD EACH DAY. WE HOPE TO STRENGTHEN OUR DIGITAL OFFERINGS IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS. WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE BIBLES THROUGH OUR SUBSIDY OF PAPER AND BIBLE DISTRIBUTION. THIS PAST YEAR, WE HELPED THE CHURCH PRINT AT LEAST 300,000 SUBSIDIZED BIBLES AND DISTRIBUTED, FREE OF COST, NEARLY 300,000 MORE. INDIA FUNDING FOR TRANSLATION PROGRAMS IN INDIA CONTINUES TO HELP THE BIBLE SOCIETY OF INDIA (BSI) ACCELERATE AND COMPLETE MUCH NEEDED TRANSLATIONS. IN A COUNTRY WHERE MORE THAN 3,000 LANGUAGES ARE SPOKEN, THERE IS MUCH TO BE DONE IN THE WORK OF TRANSLATIONS. A KEY AREA OF GROWTH IS WITH CHILDREN AND YOUTH. THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP AND ASSISTANCE, THE BIBLE SOCIETY OF INDIA REACHES THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN BY PROVIDING VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MATERIALS, AND CHILDREN'S BIBLES TO ORPHANAGES AND SCHOOLS. DEMAND FOR THESE BIBLES REMAINS STRONG. REACHING THE MARGINALIZED IN INDIAN SOCIETY REMAINS AT THE HEART OF OUR MINISTRY IN INDIA. THROUGH OUR FUNDING, ABOUT 125,000 WIDOWS AND WOMEN-AT-RISK WERE PROVIDED WITH WRITING AND LIFE SKILLS. AS A RESULT HAVE GROWN IN THEIR FAITH. PEOPLE IN HOSPITALS, THOSE WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS, AND THOSE SUFFERING FROM HIV AND LEPROSY, FOUND HOPE IN GOD'S WORD THROUGH OUR PROVISION OF SCRIPTURE PORTIONS, INCLUDING THOSE OF OTHER FAITHS. END2END (E2E) AFRICA THE END2END CONCEPT IS STRAIGHTFORWARD AND POWERFUL: SHOW THE JESUS FILM, ORGANIZE NEW CONVERTS INTO FAITH COMES BY HEARING (FCBH) LISTENING GROUPS AND PROVIDE LITERATE PARTICIPANTS WITH THEIR OWN PRINTED COPY OF THE BIBLE IN THEIR LANGUAGE. BY SUPPORTING E2E PROJECTS, ABS IS HELPING NATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETIES PROVIDE ACCESS TO SCRIPTURES FOR THOSE ENROLLED IN THE FCBH LISTENING PROGRAMS. WE ARE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT E2E CONTINUES TO YIELD GREAT IMPACT THROUGH THE BIBLE SOCIETIES THAT COMMIT TO THIS VISION. IN THE SECOND YEAR OF THE PILOT PROJECT IN RWANDA, 311 SHOWINGS OF THE JESUS FILM OCCURRED. AS A RESULT, 248 LISTENING GROUPS FORMED, AND 67,646 PEOPLE DECIDED TO RECEIVE CHRIST INTO THEIR HEARTS. THROUGH THE E2E PARTNERSHIP, THE BIBLE SOCIETY OF RWANDA DISTRIBUTED 4,430 BIBLES. AN ADDITIONAL 32 CHURCHES WERE PLANTED DURING THE SECOND YEAR OF THE PROJECT. MANY SECOND AND THIRD GENERATION LISTENING GROUPS ARE STARTING NEW GROUPS, AND MANY DAUGHTER CHURCHES STARTED NEW CHURCHES. E2E CONTINUES GAINING MOMENTUM IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES: BURUNDI, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, GHANA, MALI, RWANDA, TANZANIA, TOGO, BURKINA FASO, NIGER, CHAD, LIBERIA, SIERRA LEONE AND ZAMBIA. IN THE SAHEL COUNTRIES, WHERE THERE IS A GROWING ISLAMIC PRESENCE, PEOPLE OF OTHER FAITHS HAVE BECOME FOLLOWERS OF JESUS AND JOINED THE LOCAL CHURCH. THROUGH A PROJECT CARRIED OUT IN COLLABORATION WITH BIBLE SOCIETY OF INDIA AND CAMPUS CRUSADE INDIA, 4,500 BIBLES AND 200,000 GOSPELS OF MATTHEW WERE DISTRIBUTED. THANKS TO THE SCRIPTURES PROVIDED THROUGH THE E2E PROGRAMS, NOMINAL BELIEVERS GREW IN THEIR FAITH, AND NEW BELIEVERS JOINED THE CHURCH. EVERY TRIBE EVERY NATION EVERY TRIBE EVERY NATION (ETEN) SEEKS TO MAKE THE BIBLE AVAILABLE IN A DIGITAL BIBLE LIBRARY TO 7 BILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE WHO ARE WAITING FOR GOD'S WORD IN THEIR OWN HEART LANGUAGE. IT IS A PRIVILEGE FOR ABS TO SHARE THIS VISION. EVERY TRIBE, EVERY NATION (ETEN) IS A KEY EXPRESSION OF OUR MINISTRY ON A GLOBAL SCALE, USING THE EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT METHODOLOGY OF ACCELERATED SCRIPTURE TRANSLATION THAT LEADS TO A LIFETIME OF SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT FOR PEOPLE GROUPS ACROSS THE GLOBE. AT THE CORE OF THIS PROGRAM IS THE PROVISION OF GOD'S WORD IN EVERY HEART LANGUAGE SPOKEN ACROSS THE GLOBE. ETEN BRINGS TOGETHER THE LARGEST BIBLE AGENCIES IN THE WORLD: AMERICAN BIBLE SOCIETY/UNITED BIBLE SOCIETIES, BIBLICA AND WYCLIFFE/SIL. TOGETHER, THE ALLIANCE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 90 PERCENT OF ALL TRANSLATION ACTIVITY. THE ETEN ALLIANCE HAS ORGANIZED A DIGITAL REPOSITORY OF EXISTING LANGUAGES ALREADY TRANSLATED. THIS IS KNOWN AS THE ETEN DIGITAL BIBLE LIBRARY, WHICH ENABLES US TO OFFER THESE DIGITIZED TEXTS TO MINISTRY PARTNERS (LIBRARY CARD HOLDERS) FOR USE IN THEIR SCRIPTURE-BASED WORK. THE DIGITAL BIBLE LIBRARY SERVES AS THE HEARTBEAT OF ETEN: A SECURE, ACCESSIBLE COLLECTION OF QUALITY TRANSLATIONS. IT'S MORE THAN JUST STORAGE. FROM THIS LIBRARY, WEBSITES AND MOBILE DEVICES BECOME PORTALS TO ENGAGE WITH GOD'S WORD. JUST LIKE PETER'S SERMODesc

schedule D, part III, Line 1aCOLLECTIONS OF ART, HISTORICAL TREASURES OR OTHER SIMILAR ASSETS American Bible Society, ("the Bible Society"), maintains a rare scripture collection that has been acquired through purchases and contributions since the Bible society's inception. The collection preserves historically significant scriptures, provides for scholarly research, and contributes to the public good through educational exhibitions.
SCHEDULE D, PART V, LINE 4ENDOWMENT FUNDS American Bible Society's endowment funds (quasi & true permanently restricted endowment) exist to support the organization's mission. The unrestricted funds (quasi-endowment) help subsidize the operating budget via an annual spending formula, which allows more current donor contributions to directly fund programs. A spending formula is also applied to the restricted funds (true endowment) WHICH ARE appropriated for both general and specific purposes as designated by original donor intent. AMERICAN Bible Society HAS maintainED the historical principal value on true endowments. On September 17, 2010, New York State passed the New York State Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act. All not-for-profit organizations formed in NEw York, including the Society, must comply with this law, commencing with the Society's 2011 fiscal year. From time to time, the fair value of assets associated with an individual donor-restricted endowment fund may fall below the funds historic dollar value.

Schedule D, Part XFin 48 In July 2006, guidance was issued in the area of "Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes." The standard clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, including issues relating to financial statement recognition and measurement. This standard provides that the tax effects from an uncertain tax position can be recognized in the financial statements only if the position is "more-likely-than-not" to be sustained if the position were to be challenged by a taxing authority. The standard also provides guidance on measurement, classification, interest and penalties, and disclosure. It was effective for the Bible Society on July 1, 2009, and had no material impact on the accompanying financial statements. The tax years ending 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 are still open to audit for both federal and state purposes. The Bible Society has processes presently in place to ensure the maintenance of its tax-exempt status; to identify and report unrelated income; to determine its filing and tax obligations in jurisdictions for which it has nexus; and to identify and evaluate other matters that may be considered tax positions.

ExplanationConsistent with our mission, American Bible Society entered into a transaction with Dr. David Trobisch, a member of the Board of Trustees, for a feasibility study to support a Visual Database of New Testament Greek Manuscripts. Dr. Trobisch is one of only a handful of scholars qualified to conduct this research. The feasibility study scope and costs were vetted by the Board Committee on Translation and Scholarship. Compensation was determined to be reasonable, as it was below market for the level of work and scholarship. Full disclosure was made to the Board, the governing body, prior to the transaction being approved. The Board approved the transaction while Dr. Trobisch was recused.ExplanationTxt
