| Desc | EQUALITY FEDERATION IS THE MOVEMENT BUILDER AND STRATEGIC PARTNER TO STATE-BASED ORGANIZATIONS ADVOCATING FOR LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, AND QUEER (LGBTQ) PEOPLE. WE BELIEVE CHANGE IS POSSIBLE IN EVERY COMMUNITY. WE PROMOTE CHANGE THROUGH OUR THREE MAJOR PROGRAM AREAS. THE STATE LEADERSHIP PROJECT EMPOWERS LOCAL LEADERS TO BUILD A STRONG MOVEMENT FOR EQUALITY THAT SECURES CRITICAL GRASSROOTS WINS AT EVERY LEVEL. IN 2015, WE WROTE AND DISTRIBUTED FOUR REPORTS WITH OUR NATIONAL PARTNERS, MOVEMENT ADVANCEMENT PROJECT AND HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OWE HOSTED OUR 18TH ANNUAL EQUALITY FEDERATION SUMMER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, ATTENDED BY NEARLY 200 STATE-BASED LEADERS. WE ALSO CONDUCTED OUR ANNUAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BOOT CAMP FOR THE NEWEST LEADERS IN THE MOVEMENT AND HOSTED REGIONAL SUMMITS IN THE SOUTH AND MIDWEST. 2015 MARKED THE UNVEILING OF OUR LEGISLATIVE ACTION CENTER, A PROACTIVE STATE LEGISLATIVE TRACKING AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM THAT WILL SERVE STATE ORGANIZATIONS AND PARTNERS. WE PROVIDED GENERAL NONDISCRIMINATION MESSAGING TRAINING TO REPRESENTATIVES FROM 36 STATES AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, DID TRANS-SPECIFIC TRAINING IN 4 STATES (INCLUDING 3 VIDEO TRAINING FOR OKLAHOMA, A PHONE SESSION WITH WISCONSIN SPOKESPEOPLE, AND IN-PERSON ALL DAY TRAINING IN VIRGINIA AND FLORIDA) PLUS A WEBINAR ON BATHROOM MESSAGING. OUR MESSAGING TRAINING EMPOWERED STATE EQUALITY ORGANIZATIONS WHO DEFEATED 71 OF THE MORE THAN 79 ANTI-LGBTQ BILLS INTRODUCED IN 28 STATES THROUGHOUT 2015. OUR LIVED EQUALITY PROGRAM PROMOTES SAFE AND JUST SCHOOLS, RACIAL JUSTICE, REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, AND OTHER CRITICAL ISSUES THAT AFFECT HOW LGBTQ PEOPLE EXPERIENCE THE WORLD. | Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c | The conflict of interest policy covers all members of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, and independent contractors who perform significant work for the organization. Upon notification of a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest, the chair shall advise the full board and the Executive Director. After review, the board will determine whether the disclosure of the conflict protects the integrity of the Board's decision-making. The Board may: A. Determine by majority vote that the party in conflict shall be allowed to participate in all deliberations directly relating to the actual or potential conflict, but, if a voting member, require that he/she shall recuse him/herself from any vote on the matter: or B. Determine that the party in conflict shall not take part in any of the deliberations or votes of the board involving the question concerning which the conflict arises, nor attempt to influence other directors in reaching a decision on that question.
