DescKey programs of the Farm Journal Foundation include: -Farmers: Farm Journal Foundation's Farmer Ambassadors are a national network of farmers and producers passionate about the role of agriculture in addressing hunger around the world. Members seek to engage with policy makers, promoting a national vision and commitment to international agricultural development in U.S. foreign policy. Since the launch of the program less than 3 years ago, these leaders have conducted more than 300 meetings on Capitol Hill with policymakers. Farmers and producers work in partnership with Farm Journal Foundation at the global level and in their home state communities to communicate with and educate diverse stakeholders about the role of modern agriculture in feeding the world. Typical engagements include: speaking opportunities, guest lecturing on University campuses, hosting community events and supporting mission-aligned organizations including community gardens, food banks and local schools. -National Level Policy: The Farm Journal Foundation Policy Dialogue convenes global thought leaders with key policy influencers to facilitate discussion and critical thinking around the most important issues framing food and agriculture policy today. Efforts include peer-reviewed papers and related briefings that support a policy dialogue on how U.S. Agriculture can maintain its comparative strength, share its extraordinary knowledge and tools and drive economic growth and stability. -University Students: FJF University Campus Tour is an educational and advocacy platform designed to engage University student populations. A central purpose of the FJF Campus Tour is communication outside of the bubble of agriculture with future influencers: voters, consumers, community leaders, to connect people with the central and necessary role of modern agriculture in creating affordable, wholesome food for all. The Campus Tour model leverages a multi-channel approach to engagement that incorporates the following elements for impact: Campus Ambassador Leadership Program, Mobile Learning Exhibit, FJF in the Classroom: Thought Leadership and Curriculum, Campus-Level Volunteer Engagements and Technology-Mobile Apps, eLearning and Advocacy: Stakeholder-to-National Policymaker.Desc

ExplanationFarm Journal Agricultural Foundation (Foundation) is dedicated to sustaining agriculture's ability to meet the vital needs of a growing population through education and empowerment. Foundation qualifies as publicly supported because it meets the 10 percent facts and circumstances test under Treasury Regulation 1.170A-9(F)(3)(I)-(III, and subsets (A)-(E)) in the following respects: I. 10 percent of support limitation: Foundation's public support fraction is 14.75, above the 10 percent threshold. II. Attraction of public support: FOUNDATION IS ORGANIZED AND OPERATED TO ATTRACT NEW AND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT ON A CONTINUOUS BASIS. THE ORGANIZATION CONNECTS FARMERS AND RANCHERS, INDUSTRY, ACADEMIA, GOVERNMENT, CONSUMERS, AND NGO PARTNERSHIPS AROUND THE WORLD TO: - ADVOCATE FOR A POLICY ENVIRONMENT THAT PRIORITIZES hunger issues and empowers farmers and ranchers to meet the challenge; - ELEVATE THE NEXT GENERATION'S UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN EXPANDING GLOBAL NUTRITIONAL NEEDS AND advancing agriculture's CAPACITY TO MEET THOSE NEEDS; and - ADVANCE SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND proven hunger solutions. And as a result of these efforts, the Foundation is gaining support from the general public. The Foundation understands the need for support from individuals, public charities and the government in order to raise its public support percentage and it is structuring its development efforts toward these donors. III(A/B). Percentage and Sources of support: Foundation is supported by a diverse and representative group of donors. The Foundation is only in year eight of existence and while in this start-up mode, the Foundation received its most generous support from corporations and some of the world's greatest philanthropic private foundations. However, during 2018, the Foundation did receive grants and contributions from 13 donors, including individuals, public charities, private foundations, and corporations. Of these 21 donors, 62 percent were individuals making gifts of $1,000 or less. The take-away here is that Foundation's programs and activities have broad appeal to members of the public - clearly societies all over the world wish to alleviate the problem of world hunger. III(C). Representative governing body: Foundation is governed by a five member board of directors and all such directors are independent. The board members include community leaders, civic leaders, industry specialists, and philanthropists who bring to Foundation's board a cross-section of the views and interests of the problem the Foundation is tackling - world hunger. III(D). Availability of public facilities or services; public participation in programs or policies: Foundation conducts extensive and on-going programs and activities that are designed to inform the public, the media and policymakers about the subject of world hunger. Foundation's program, Farmers Feeding the World, is a platform for engaging individual farmers and farmer organizations in the philanthropic support of hunger alleviation. It is a national network of farmers passionate about the role of agriculture in addressing hunger around the world. Foundation seeks to engage with policy makers, promoting a national vision and commitment to international agricultural development in U.S. foreign policy. Foundation's program, HungerU, is a next generation engagement platform that connects University and College students to the powerful problems surrounding hunger in the world. HungerU programs include a dynamic mobile exhibit that travels to campuses around the nation raising awareness of nutrition and food security issues, experiential learning opportunities and classroom curriculum that directly connect students to field-level view of the diversity and importantce of the global food system and a vibrant digital and social media network that engages more than 20,000 students in ongoing education and advocacy opportunities. Foundation's program, Farm Journal Foundation Dialogue, identifies important policy moments and creates actionable education and interventions geared towards National level policymakers. Through this platform, the Foundation is working with some of the most elite, global thought leadership in the world on topics including research, institutional capacity building and trade, to create concise, impactful research papers that will form the framework for direct Capitol Hill briefings and to inform and support other organizations advocating for food and nutritional security.
