Desc	GALA produces a Leadership Symposium annually except in the year of festival. Normally there would not have been a symposium in 2020 as it was to be a festival year but since festival had to be cancelled due to the pandemic the organization produced a virtual symposium on October 16-18, 2020 using the Hopin virtual conference platform. Total registration for the event was 545 representing a 42% increase over the prior year. Fully half of our member choruses were represented at the event, nearly a 10% increase from the prior year. Workshops were planned to relate to all aspects of chorus involvement, with many sessions focused on the social restrictions necessitated by COVID (creating virtual performances, online revenue options, etc.) Presenters included Tori Cook from Chorus Connection, David Smolover of MatchMySound, Nina Simon from Of, By, For All and Mollie Stone of the Global Harmony Choir. An overall evaluation of the event was conducted by online survey during the week following the symposium. The participation rate in the survey was 18% and 86% of the respondents were somewhat or very satisfied with the event.	Desc

Desc	GALA produces a quadrennial music festival for its member choruses which attracts over 150 performing arts groups with nearly 7,000 singers. Festival was scheduled to be held in Minneapolis in July 2020 but was rescheduled to 2021 due to the pandemic. The event was cancelled again for 2021 and rescheduled to 2024. While many of the deposits related to performance venues and production vendors were rolled forward to 2024 and remain on the balance sheet as prepaid deposits, period costs such as the portion of the management service fees associated with work on festival are expensed in the period incurred. The grant expense was to cover the nonrefundable portion of airfare for a guest chorus from overseas that had been planning to attend the festival. In order to maintain the financial viability of GALA Choruses, those who had already registered for Festival 2020 were asked to consider donating their registration fees rather than requesting a refund. The revenue shown represents the conversions to donations received in 2020.	Desc

The advisors available under the program are highly experienced professionals in the areas of artistic excellence, board and other administraive matters and equity, access and belonging programs.
