| Desc | THE BOULDER COUNTY PARKS & OPEN SPACE FOUNDATION IS PLEASED TO REPORT THE FOLLOWING ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2022: FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN THE AMOUNT OF 25,000 TO THE OCEAN FIRST INSTITUTE SPECIES CONSERVATION PROJECT FOR NORTHERN RED BELLY DACE AND NORTHERN LEOPARD FROG. OCEAN FIRST IS WORKING WITH PARKS & OPEN SPACE, ST. VRAIN VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AND OTHER PARTNERS TO INCREASE THE POPULATIONS AND HABITATS OF THESE SPECIAL STATUS SPECIES IN BOULDER COUNTY THROUGH HANDS-ON AND INNOVATIVE INVOLVEMENT OF LOCAL K-12 STUDENTS. AN ADDITIONAL 9,200 WAS AWARDED TO THE DEPARTMENT TO COMPLETE A RELATED STUDY OF AQUATIC MACROINVERTEBRATES IN THE ST. VRAIN CREEK. FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN THE AMOUNT OF 13,000 WAS PROVIDED TO DR. DOREEN MARTINEZ. DR. MARTINEZ IS PROVIDING LEADERSHIP AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE TO THE DEPARTMENT'S INDIGENOUS WAYS & LAND COMMITMENT TEAM AS THEY ENDEAVOR TO CREATE AN INDIGENOUS LAND COMMITMENT ON BEHALF OF THE DEPARTMENT. ALONG WITH THE COMMITMENT, TEAM MEMBERS ARE INITIATING PROJECT WORK IN SUPPORT OF THE COMMITMENT AND ALSO PROVIDING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EVOLVING OPERATIONAL ASPECTS OF THE DEPARTMENT THAT ALIGN WITH INDIGENOUS VALUES FOR THE LAND THAT THE DEPARTMENT HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO STEWARD. DIRECT SUPPORT TO LOCAL SCHOOLS FOR FUNDING OF BUS TRANSPORTATION TO BRING STUDENTS TO PARKS & OPEN SPACE LOCATIONS FOR FIELD TRIPS WITH PROGRAMS LED BY BCPOS STAFF. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED FUNDING TO THE DEPARTMENT FOR MATERIALS AND/OR SERVICES FOR THE ENDEAVORS OUTLINED BELOW THAT ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED BY STAFF: - 5,000 TO CONTINUE THE DEPLOYMENT OF LIVE CAMERAS AT TRAILHEADS - 8,500 TO SUPPORT THE RANGER-LED LEFTHAND OUTDOOR CHALLENGE YOUTH PROGRAM, INCLUDING AN EQUIPMENT TRAILER - 10,000 TO THE CULTURAL RESOURCES PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THE CATALOGING OF COLLECTED INDIGENOUS OBJECTS - 15,500 FOR THE NATIVE SEED PROPAGATION PROGRAM - 7,500 TO SUPPORT THE MEMORIAL BENCH PROGRAM - 3,840 TO SUPPORT AN EVENT TO EQUIP AND TEACH FISHING SKILLS TO LOW- INCOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS - 14,483 TO SUPPORT REPAIRS AT THE AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE CENTER AND OTHER MUSEUM-RELATED WORK. - 13,400 FOR MAINTENANCE OF TRAILS IN THE NEDERLAND BY TEENS INC., A NEDERLAND-AREA YOUTH CORPS. | Desc |

OCEAN FIRST IS WORKING WITH PARKS & OPEN SPACE, ST. VRAIN VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AND OTHER PARTNERS TO INCREASE THE POPULATIONS AND HABITATS OF THESE SPECIAL STATUS SPECIES IN BOULDER COUNTY THROUGH HANDS-ON AND INNOVATIVE INVOLVEMENT OF LOCAL K-12 STUDENTS. AN ADDITIONAL 9,200 WAS AWARDED TO THE DEPARTMENT TO COMPLETE A RELATED STUDY OF AQUATIC MACROINVERTEBRATES IN THE ST. VRAIN CREEK. FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN THE AMOUNT OF 13,000 WAS PROVIDED TO DR. DOREEN MARTINEZ. DR. MARTINEZ IS PROVIDING LEADERSHIP AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE TO THE DEPARTMENT'S INDIGENOUS WAYS & LAND COMMITMENT TEAM AS THEY ENDEAVOR TO CREATE AN INDIGENOUS LAND COMMITMENT ON BEHALF OF THE DEPARTMENT. ALONG WITH THE COMMITMENT, TEAM MEMBERS ARE INITIATING PROJECT WORK IN SUPPORT OF THE COMMITMENT AND ALSO PROVIDING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EVOLVING OPERATIONAL ASPECTS OF THE DEPARTMENT THAT ALIGN WITH INDIGENOUS VALUES FOR THE LAND THAT THE DEPARTMENT HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO STEWARD. DIRECT SUPPORT TO LOCAL SCHOOLS FOR FUNDING OF BUS TRANSPORTATION TO BRING STUDENTS TO PARKS & OPEN SPACE LOCATIONS FOR FIELD TRIPS WITH PROGRAMS LED BY BCPOS STAFF. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED FUNDING TO THE DEPARTMENT FOR MATERIALS AND/OR SERVICES FOR THE ENDEAVORS OUTLINED BELOW THAT ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED BY STAFF: - 5,000 TO CONTINUE THE DEPLOYMENT OF LIVE CAMERAS AT TRAILHEADS - 8,500 TO SUPPORT THE RANGER-LED LEFTHAND OUTDOOR CHALLENGE YOUTH PROGRAM, INCLUDING AN EQUIPMENT TRAILER - 10,000 TO THE CULTURAL RESOURCES PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THE CATALOGING OF COLLECTED INDIGENOUS OBJECTS - 15,500 FOR THE NATIVE SEED PROPAGATION PROGRAM - 7,500 TO SUPPORT THE MEMORIAL BENCH PROGRAM - 3,840 TO SUPPORT AN EVENT TO EQUIP AND TEACH FISHING SKILLS TO LOW- INCOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS - 14,483 TO SUPPORT REPAIRS AT THE AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE CENTER AND OTHER MUSEUM-RELATED WORK. - 13,400 FOR MAINTENANCE OF TRAILS IN THE NEDERLAND BY TEENS INC., A NEDERLAND-AREA YOUTH CORPS. |
