| Explanation | Schedule I, Part I, Line 1: Selection criteria: The organization ("CPSA") provides financial sponsorship for fundraising, celebratory and educational events with a behavioral healthcare, social service or community focus, consistent with our mission statement and status as a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. The audience for sponsored events may include members and their families, individuals working in the behavioral healthcare industry or collaborating stakeholder systems such as justice or education, or entire communities. Financial sponsorships provide CPSA the opportunity to support organizations serving our members, reinvest funds in the communities we serve and build positive community relations. Rather than "grant" and "grantee," the terms "sponsorship" or "financial support" and "agency" or "organization," respectively, have been used for sponsorship contributions. Sponsorship dollars may be provided to events of the following types: *A fundraising event is held by an organization to raise funds for its programs. *A celebratory event, such as a recognition or awards event, is held to mark an accomplishment or contribution made by individuals or organizations. *An educational event provides an opportunity for attendees to receive behavioral healthcare information or training. Many educational events include the opportunity to display CPSA's behavioral health-related information materials. Schedule I, Part I, Line 1: Record maintenance: The finance department maintains records to substantiate the amount of contributions made by CPSA. To receive CPSA sponsorship dollars, an organization must submit a written request that typically includes the name, date/time, place, and purpose of the event. CPSA's Communications Team researches the request and provides information to the CEO. If the sponsorship opportunity is approved by the CEO, Communications staff completes and submits a check request together with the requestor's letter or e-mail, which is reviewed/signed by the Communications Director and the CEO and forwarded to the finance department for processing. Schedule I, Part I, Line 2: Monitoring: CPSA monitors the sponsored events by having staff or others attend them, reviewing event-related materials and following internal guidelines. Sponsored events are attended by a variety of individuals depending on the event, including CPSA members and their families, CPSA staff members and providers, other stakeholders, and the public. The majority of events include a mention of CPSA in an event program and a listing on the organization's Web site, at a minimum. No Director shall participate in any deliberation or vote of the Board of Directors regarding a transaction or issue in which the Director has a conflict of interest. |
