| Description | Our primary focus is on professional theatre productions on the 552 seat Mainstage and the 180 seat Nextstage theatres that comprise Geva Theatre Center. These performances serve patrons residing in Monroe and the 11 surrounding counties near Rochester, New York. Geva hosted over 450 performances in fiscal year 2010. | Description | Education and Outreach programs are very important to the mission of the Theatre. Over 14,000 school-aged children are served each year via in-school workshops, Discovery Guide print materials, teacher workshops, Artist in the Classroom visits, and attendance at theatre productions. Geva serves patrons through Prologue pre-performance discussions, Sunday Salon, and sign-interpreted and audio described performances for those with disabilities. Geva also hosts a pre-professional theatre training program for talented teens during the summer. | Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11 | The Theatre's annual filing of IRS Form 990, "Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax" requires its Board of Directors to be aware of and review the content of this form prior to filing. Presently, the Form is prepared on our behalf by our auditors. Upon completion, it is reviewed by Geva Theatre Center's Finance Officer and Managing Director before being submitted to the Treasurer. The Treasurer will select one or more Finance Committee members to assist in the Board's formal review of the document. Upon completion of this review, its approval will be a formal agenda item on the Finance Committee. Copies will be available for members of the Finance Committee, should they desire. Pre-filing approval of Form 990 will be documented in the minutes of the Finance Committee. |

The salary level of the finance director is determined via performance review by managing director and comparing salary to comparable positions at comparable non-profit theatres through the Theatre Communications Group Salary Survey, then reviewed by CEO. The CEO compensation arrangement is negotiated by an authorized body composed of members of the Board of Trustees who do not have a conflict of interest concerning the compensation arrangement. The authorized body consists of the Chair of the Board of Trustees and other trustees designated by the Chair. The compensation arrangement is approved in advance by vote of the executive committee. Prior to making its determination, the authorized body obtains and relies upon appropriate data, such as the Salary Survey from Theatre Communications Group, as to comparability. The authorized body adequately and timely documents the basis for its determination concurrently with making that determination. |
