Description	The Abilene Preservation League owns and maintains the Swenson House, a 1910 family home located at 1742 Swenson St. in Abilene, Texas. The League assumed control of the home in 1990 and has been working to maintain and repair this example of early 20th century prairie style and Mission architecture, which has significance to the community because W.G. Swenson was involved in the creation of many early businesses in our city that contributed to its growth. Our goal is to preserve and stabilize the structure. Typical expenditures for the stabilization other than utilities include electrical system modernization and safety, masonry repair and roof repair.	Description

The Abilene Preservation League renovated the building in 2000 and 2001 to serve as our offices, plus as a performing arts venue for local arts groups as well as office space for arts and arts-related groups. Description	In 2009 the Abilene Preservation League purchased a home at 1910 North Third Street in Abilene that had suffered a catastrophic fire. The roof was completely burned off. We took this on as a project to stabilize this historic home, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is a Texas Recorded State Landmark, and also an Abilene Historic Landmark. in this report period we acquired the home, began to clean up the debris and worked with an architect and engineer to develop plans for its stabilization. F990_P03_S00_L02	Form 990, Part III, Line 2	The Abilene Preservation League undertook a new project beginning in 2009. The J.D. Magee home suffered a catastrophic fire in February 2008. We acquired the property in March 2009. We began to clean out the debris before the end of our fiscal year. Most of the expenses on this property occurred in the 2011 fiscal year, however. This structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as a Texas State Recorded Landmark, and as a local Abilene Historic Landmark.
