We help them develop proficiency in basic educational disciplines, set goals, explore careers, and learn about technology.Key Programs:Power Hour:Making Minutes Count provides Club professionals with tools and strategies for helping members ages 6 to 12 and 13 to 18 with their homework every day. Goals for Graduation:Goals for Graduation helps Club members ages 6 to 18 link their future aspirations with concrete actions today. Members create action plans for achieving short-term and long-term academic goals. The program is designed to help kids stay on a pathway that will lead them to high school graduation and beyond. Money Matters:Make It Count teaches members ages 13 to 18 how to handle money. Kids in the program learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest, start a small business and pay for college. Career Launch:Helps Club members ages 13 to 18 answer that all important question: what do I want to be when I grow up? The program encourages members to assess their skills and interests, explore different career options, and make educational choices that will get them where they want to go. Skill Tech:Basic Training is a fun way for Club members of all ages to learn how to use various Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher and Digital Image Pro. The program consists of a series of animated lessons in English or Spanish through and instructor-led group activities. Project Learn:Reinforces the skills and knowledge kids learn at school through fun, academically-oriented activities during Club hours. | Part V, Line 4: | Description of Intended Use of Endowment Funds: | The Organization has adopted investment and spending policies for endowment assets that attempt to provide a reasonably predictable stream of funding to the Organization's operating budget while seeking to maintain the purchasing power of the endowment assets. Endowment assets include those assets of donor-restricted funds that the Organization must hold in perpetuity as well as board designated funds. According to the investment policy, as approved by the Board of Directors, the endowment assets are invested in accordance with sound investment practices that emphasize long-term investment fundamentals. It is recognized that short-term market fluctuations may cause variations in account performance. To satisfy its long-term rate of return objectives, the Organization relies on a total return strategy in which investment returns are achieved through both capital appreciation (realized and unrealized) and current yield (interest and dividends). The Organization targets a diversified asset allocation in order to achieve its long-term return objectives within prudent risk constraints. The Organization has a policy of appropriating for distribution each year an amount not to exceed 5% of the five year (20 quarters) moving average of the endowment's fair value. These amounts shall be calculated through the calendar year-end preceeding the fiscal year for which the distribution is planned. Over the long-term, the Organization expects the current spending policy to allow its endowment to grow at a rate that is consistent with its objective of maintaining the purchasing power of the endowment assets while providing additional real growth through new gifts and investment return. |
