Description	GARDEN & BOTANICAL COLLECTION - LEACH GARDEN FRIENDS HAS ABOUT 130 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN 8,000 HOURS THIS PAST YEAR TO MAINTAIN THE GARDEN'S BOTANICAL COLLECTION, PLANTINGS, AND FACILITIES ON OUR SEVENTEEN ACRE CAMPUS SO THAT THE PUBLIC MAY VISIT, LEARN AND EXPLORE. THE GARDEN STAFF CONTINUE TO INCREASED THE VOLUME OF OUR PROPAGATION AS WELL AS ACQUISITION OF PLANT SPECIMENS. THESE ARE AVAILABLE FOR BOTH VIEWING AND FOR SALE. THE GARDEN'S BOTANICAL COLLECTION SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED AS RECOMMENDED IN OUR 2010 COLLECTION ASSESSMENT, AND WE ARE PARTNERING WITH HOYT ARBORETUM IN THE USE OF THIS NEW TOOL. LEACH IS THE ONLY PUBLIC BOTANICAL GARDEN IN THE AREA.	Description

Description	EDUCATION PROGRAMS - THE GARDEN INCREASED ITS CAPACITY TO PROVIDE EDUCATION TO THE PUBLIC. WE HAVE HIRED A NEW EDUCATION COORDINATOR AND FOCUSED HER EFFORTS ON BUILDING A STRONG, COMMUNITY-BASED EDUCATION COMMITTEE, ON REACHING OUT TO OTHER EDUCATIONAL PROVIDERS TO EXPLORE PARTNERSHIPS, AND STANDARDIZE THE MATERIALS AND RESOURCES FOR THE PROGRAM. WE CONTINUED TO HOUSE PORTLAND AUDUBON'S EASTSIDE OFFICES AND PROGRAMS AS WELL AS ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION OF OREGON, WHICH EXTENDS THE EDUCATIONAL CAPACITY AT THE GARDEN. MANY OF THE PROGRAMS PRESENTED DURING THE PAST YEAR WERE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND SOME WERE FREE OF CHARGE. A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER IS SENT TO ABOUT 1,000 PEOPLE. WE HAVE COMPLETELY REDONE OUR WEBSITE INCREASING THE VARIETY AND DEPTH OF ITS EDUCATIONAL CONTENT.	Description
