Together with experts in science, parenting and communications, The Partnership at Drugfree.org translates research on teen behavior, addiction and treatment into useful and effective resources for both individuals and communities working toward A FUTURE WHERE ALL YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO LIVE LIVES FREE OF ADDICTION BY PROVIDING EVIDENCE-BASED SOLUTIONS AND SERVICES FOR PARENTS, KEY INFLUENCERS AND COMMUNITIES DELIVERED BOTH ONLINE (www.drugfree.org) AND IN PERSON. | Description | Prevention & Education The Partnership continues to expand and enrich its educational and resource offerings for parents and other youth influencers, working with such partners as the Treatment Research Institute. In 2012, we significantly expanded our online resource for Spanish-speaking parents and influencers, "Habla Con Tus Hijos", which provides effective, science-based resources equipping Hispanic parents and grandparents to take action in preventing teen substance abuse. The Medicine Abuse Project is one of our largest and most effective inititaives. Launched in 2012, we are rallying thousands of parents, grandparents, health care providers and law enforcement agencies to collectively help end teen medicine abuse and save lives. By working together, The Medicine Abuse Project aims to prevent half a million teens from abusing medicine within five years. Our Community Education program, PACT360, continues to roll out into new communities across the country, as well as offer new tools and resources with a revamped website: http://pact360.org/. An independent evaluation of Parents360 (the core component of PACT360) determined that the program is effective in improving parents' knowledge of substance abuse risks and in strengthening their feelings of self-efficacy - i.e., confidence that they can prevent their children from initiating drug or alcohol use. | Description | Intervention Discovering that a child is using drugs of alcohol can be a scary experience for parents. That's why our intervention resources offer step-by-step advice and guidance from top substance abuse experts, family therapists, scientists and fellow care givers to guide parents to take immediate action. More than 150,000 parents and caregivers came to www.drugfree.org to seek intervention help and read our e-books on intervention. The Partnership stresses the importance of getting a professional assessment for a child's substance abuse problem. Our annual Partnership Attitude Tracking survey (PATS) is the longest-running national research study of parent and teen attitudes about drug and alcohol use in the United States. | Description | Treatment and Recovery Addiction is a disease rooted in adolescence. Parents can find a clear path to information and support for substance abuse treatment by going to www.drugfree.org/timetogethelp, or by calling our bilingual Parents Toll-Free Help line, 855-DRUGFREE, staffed by licensed social workers. Trained counselors help callers who are concerned about a child's, or other family member's, substance abuse - listening, suggesting appropriate action and helping them navigate the challenging substance abuse treatment system. We also launched The Hope Share in 2012, an inspiring online community that demonstrates in both words and images how recovery is real and possible.
