Desc	EDUCATION - The primary purpose of the Corporation is to organize and conduct international congresses for the presentation of papers, panel discussions, symposia, and other programs reporting the results of recent research in the chemical sciences including chemistry, chemical engineering and biochemistry to enhance the dissemination and exchange of chemical knowledge by scientists and engineers of the Pacific Basin countries and other congress participants, thereby aiding in the development of the industries of each participating country, addressing the problems associated with the local and global environments, and adding to the material prosperity and happiness of their respective peoples. The seventh in the series of successful cosponsored scientific conference of Pacific Basin Chemical Societies was held in Honolulu, Hawaii from December 15-20, 2015. The Congress was jointly sponsored by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC), American Chemical Society (ACS), the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ), the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (NZIC), the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), the Korean Chemical Society (KCS), and the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS). There were an additional 60 Official Participating Societies from 17 of the Pacific Rim countries involved in the conference. The theme of Pacifichem 2015 was, Networking Building Bridges across the Pacific. The meeting had over 15,000 attendees from 71 different countries and over 18,000 papers were submitted and presented in either oral or poster formats. Over 40 foreign travel grants were awarded to individuals from under-developed countries in the Pacific Rim under the Early Career Chemist Program. The student poster competition had over 300 sessions and awards were given to 54 winners. Pacifichem 2015 had 334 symposia focusing on 11 topic areas of chemistry including Analytical Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, and showed a near 50% increase in technical program content compared to the 2010 meeting. Description of the organization's procedures for monitoring the use of grant funds outside the United States: Pacifichem,Inc. regularly monitors its grants to ensure that they are used for proper purposes and are not diverted from their intended uses. These monitoring procedures include receipt of an annual written report within 60 days after the grant funds have been expended regarding how the granted funds were used, paid training for representatives of the Founding societies, and requiring separate bank accounts or tracking of grant funds. The Pacifichems Board of Directors reviews all reports submitted to ensure compliance with grants budgets, policies, and legal requirements. If the Board determines the granted funds were not expended as required by the Bylaws, the Board of Directors will demand repayment of the funds.

Pacifichem, Inc. is a not-for profit corporation whose membership is open to persons interested in advancing and supporting the exempt purposes of the corporation. The Board of Directors may approve applicants for membership based on established criteria, qualifications and policies. Members may be removed at any time by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors and any member may terminate membership upon written notice. Members of the Corporation have no voting rights, other than the three Founding Members who have the right to appoint one member of the Board of Directors.
