Summary Of Direct Chrtbl Acty SummaryOfDirectChrtblActyGrp

FieldValueIRS element (for citing)
Description11) Convenings: An important part of the Foundation's work is bringing together decision-makers and organizations across sectors to collaborate on program ideas, identify community needs, build relationships, and streamline efforts to improve public health. In 2017, the Foundation launched a convening with organizations with a range of perspectives to address high rates of HIV infections in the Tampa Bay region. HIV convening efforts yielded the cross-sector adoption of an intervention protocol known as the 90-90-90-50 model that has proven effective in reducing new HIV infections by 50 percent in other communities. The Foundation also hosted an annual conference for 18 recipients of its 2016 grants that offered technical training with a national health equity communications expert and a film festival of videos showcasing their work.Description1Txt
Expenses1$123,934Expenses1Amt
Description22) Research: Research and data underpin the Foundation's investments and help ensure that priorities align with community needs and its health equity mission. Reports undertaken in 2017 focused on priorities identified through community listening sessions and surveys: housing, education and the capacity of the nonprofit sector working in the social determinants of health. Five research efforts were completed: a study of the economic impact of the nonprofit sector in Pinellas County; a scan and survey of the operations and missions of county nonprofits; the first phase of a countywide housing survey; a scan of key education topics in the county for future in-depth research; and a study of the availability of wireless Internet services for families of school-aged children. Investment was also made in developing an evaluation framework for the Foundation's work and in establishing a protocol for measuring the impact and effectiveness of Foundation investments.Description2Txt
Expenses2$395,834Expenses2Amt
Description33) Community Outreach and Support: The majority of Foundation efforts are represented by three types of community education efforts: 1. A free public lecture series called Speakers Who Inspire, which presents national authorities on topics that affect human health, and an in-depth seminar series called Courageous Conversation About Race. 2. Public events that disseminate research and knowledge, including supporting educational materials and videos. These included an event that walked participants through the county nonprofit economic impact report; a Community Healthcare Summit; and preparations for an Annual Meeting to present the Foundation's strategic direction and objectives for 2018 based on community surveys and listening sessions. 3. Investment of funds and staff time in partner organizations that contribute to a healthier community.Description3Txt
