DescThe Centre for Domestic Training and Development (CDTD) used funds provided by One World Childrens Fund to develop a vocational training program for young refugee, migrant and internally displaced women (ages 18-25), which also includes information regarding sexual reproductive health. They offered courses in fashion & design, catering and cosmetology. They provided housing for those women that needed it. CDTD engaged two community health workers from the refugee communities represented in the project - Congolese and Burundians - to create comfort around sensitive material. 50 young adults participated in the vocational training program, 40 from refugee communities. 10 young women received housing through the program. Sexual reproductive health information was provided to program participants as well as 200 young men and women in the broader community.Desc

Staff received training on the unique needs of the students and families. A counselor was hired to disseminate culturally appropriate curriculum through parenting workshops held within the community. Workshop topics included: parenting styles, parent-child communication, child development stages, discipline, parenting children with special needs, and childrens rights.
