<Desc>The Centre for Domestic Training and Development (CDTD) used funds provided by One World Childrens Fund to develop a vocational training program for young refugee, migrant and internally displaced women (ages 18-25), which also includes information regarding sexual reproductive health. They offered courses in fashion & design, catering and cosmetology. They provided housing for those women that needed it. CDTD engaged two community health workers from the refugee communities represented in the project - Congolese and Burundians - to create comfort around sensitive material. 50 young adults participated in the vocational training program, 40 from refugee communities. 10 young women received housing through the program. Sexual reproductive health information was provided to program participants as well as 200 young men and women in the broader community.</Desc>

<FormAndLineReferenceDesc>Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description</FormAndLineReferenceDesc>
<ExplanationTxt>OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: OTHER PROGRAMS FISCALLY SPONSORED OR SUPPORTED BY ONE WORLD CHILDRENS FUND INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:Resilience Action International (RAI) designed a market-based technical education program using funds provided by One World Childrens Fund. Courses lasted 4 to 8 months and included English, tailoring & fashion, information & communication technology, and an entrepreneurship bootcamp. The program also included training in soft skills, such as customer care, interviewing techniques, resume writing, decision-making and negotiation. The program reached 687 young adult refugees. Of those, 449 received English instruction, 104 completed the tailoring & fashion course, 85 completed the information & communication technology course, and 49 complete the entrepreneurship bootcamp. At the time of reporting, 95% of the graduates felt better prepared to enter the job market, and 20% had found employment.St. Vincent de Paul Community Development Center used funds provided by One World Childrens Fund to provide psychosocial support services to 85 children enrolled in their nursery school as well as their parents and guardians. Staff received training on the unique needs of the students and families. A counselor was hired to disseminate culturally appropriate curriculum through parenting workshops held within the community. Workshop topics included: parenting styles, parent-child communication, child development stages, discipline, parenting children with special needs, and childrens rights. When the nursery school was shut down in response to COVID-19, the program shifted focus to parenting groups and redesigned the groups to accommodate social distancing restrictions. St. Vincents conducted three, two-week workshops with 72 parents. During the sessions, parents were encouraged to share their own experiences and views. This honest exchange allowed for frank and safe discussions about real-life issues affecting caregivers and their children and offered some relief to the isolation of the pandemic. After the sessions ended, staff conducted home visits and provided individual counseling for those in need of additional services. In addition, grant funds were utilized to distribute food twice a month during school closures. Empowering Youth Cambodia (EYC) responded after a fire decimated a local community, burning 151 homes to the ground and leaving approximately 850 people homeless. EYC immediately began providing food, water, clothes, hygiene supplies, medical care, and shelter to the community members in need. EYC also raised emergency response funds through One World's platform to provide families with rent and household supplies. EYC also deployed humanitarian support to address the impacts of COVID in their community. They increased their social work activities in the community, including regular, individual communication with all students and over 950 families. They also started a new STEM program.Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) served over 219,240 nutritious meals to youth. They added two concession-serving stands to maintain a 2m distance while serving meals. Additionally, KYP provided school uniforms for 560 children and helped 16 unemployed youth either join a leadership training program or obtain employment. KYP saw an 83% pass rate for their Grade 12 students. During the pandemic, ACCESS continued to support to 500 orphaned and vulnerable children, 50 elderly women and men, 180 nursing and midwifery students and 61 preschool children. They provided 150 women with small start-up income projects, conducted 3,154 laboratory tests and 2,511 immunization visits. Even in the midst of the lockdown, their clinic did not close down a single day and was able to provide services to 4,142 patients. TO PROTECT CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THEIR COMMUNITY, PEERLINK (PELI-U) SENSITIZED 60 VILLAGE HEALTH TEAMS ON COVID-19 PREVENTION AND MITIGATION AND PRODUCED INFORMATION, EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION MATERIALS IN ENGLISH AND RUKIGA-RUNYANKORE. THEY PROVIDED 300 BARS OF WASHING SOAP TO VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS AND SET UP 300 TIPPY TAPS HAND WASHING POINTS IN HOUSEHOLDS AND COMMON COMMUNITY MEETING POINTS (TRADING CENTERS, HEALTH CENTER, SCHOOLS, MARKETS AND CHURCHES) FOR IMPROVED HYGIENE. 200 HOUSEHOLDS WERE PROVIDED WITH ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES (FOOD STUFFS, RICE, MAIZE MEAL, BEANS, SUGAR).
