| X 2 | Orbis was incorporated in the State of New York and is exempt from Federal and State Income Taxes under section 501C3 of the Internal Revenue Code The Code. The Internal Revenue Service IRS has ruled that, pursuant to section 501C3 of The Code, Orbis is exempt from Federal Income taxes and is a publicly supported organization, as defined in section 509A 1 of The Code. As a Not-For-Profit Organization, Orbis is also exempt from State and Local Income Taxes. Accordingly, Orbis is not subject to Income Taxes except to the extent that it has taxable income from activities that are not related to its exempt purposes. Orbis utilizes a threshold of more likely than not for recognition and derecognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. No provision for income taxes was required for Fiscal Year 2021 or 2020. |

However, Orbis country teams were able to safely and successfully pivot their program approaches, while incorporating innovative approaches to reach communities and beneficiaries with eye care services around the world. By the end of 2021, Orbis was supporting 73 active global projects in 13 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbeans, and 25 of these were new - an impressive 67 increase in new work. Over the same period, a total of 51,846 trainings were completed for health care professionals and community health workers over 2 million eye screening and examinations conducted at community level and 1,588,651 patient visits for eye care services and 95,087 glasses were prescribed with Orbis providing free or subsidized eyeglasses for close to 29,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, 22,365 eye surgeries were performed in hospital operating theatres including an estimated 16,000 Trichiasis Trachomatous surgeries. |

Retinopathy of prematurity screening and red reflex testing were scaled up in six provinces in Mongolia and these approaches are now incorporated in the national program on early identification of diseases. The Zambia program strengthened eye care capacity at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka by providing hands-on training for resident doctors in ophthalmology, procured and installed eye diagnostic and treatment equipment, and supported a vitreo-retinal fellowship for one of the ophthalmologists at the teaching hospital. Resident training in Phacodynamics and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography were convened in the second half of 2021 in Bolivia. |
