Part III response or note to any other line in Part IIIOrganization Mission The North Carolina Hmong Women Association (NCHWA) is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization founded in 2021. NCHWA focuses on advancing Hmong women, girls, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds by expanding access to education, developing community leadership, promoting advocacy, and advancing health equity for immigrant and refugee families across rural North Carolina. NCHWA supports Asian communities in NCincluding Hmong and Southeast Asiansthrough trusted community engagement, culturally responsive health and civic education, and partnerships with healthcare systems and NC government agencies to strengthen access to quality care and help underserved communities thrive. Civic Engagement-Accomplishment I The NCHWA advances civic engagement by providing voter education, registration outreach, and culturally responsive civic programming. The organization works to increase participation in civic processes among Hmong and Southeast Asian communities, particularly in rural areas, ensuring community members are informed, empowered, and able to advocate for their needs. NCHWA also conducts community needs assessments, listening sessions, and research initiatives to elevate community voices and inform policies that promote equity and access. In addition, the organization supports community resilience and collective action through disaster response efforts, including providing culturally responsive relief and Culture and Language - Accomplishment II NCHWA promotes cultural preservation through Hmong language programs, cultural education, and intergenerational initiatives that strengthen identity and community connection. These efforts include culturally grounded programming such as paj ntaub (traditional Hmong textile art) workshops, storytelling, and cultural activities that help preserve traditions while fostering pride and continuity across generations within Hmong and Southeast Asian communities. Health & Wellness -Accomplishment III NCHWA supports community health through culturally responsive initiatives, including its annual community health fair, health education workshops, and resource navigation. The annual health fair serves as a cornerstone event that connects families to healthcare services, screenings, and community resources in a culturally and linguistically accessible environment. The programs aim to improve access to healthcare services, increase health literacy, and address disparities impacting immigrant and refugee families. The organization also integrates health and wellness into its programming through culturally responsive workshops, healing spaces, and community activities that support emotional well-being, Mentorship and Leadership - Accomplishment IV NCHWA develops the next generation of leaders through mentorship programs, youth leadership initiatives, and its annual Youth Leadership Summit. These programs focus on empowering women and youth with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to lead within their communities. Through leadership development, NCHWA strengthens representation and builds long-term capacity for community-driven change.
