| Description | Mental Health - The Almansor Center:Since 1974, The Almansor Center has been an innovative, certified school and training facility that has successfully served infants, youths and young adults at risk for learning, language, developmental, emotional and behavioral problems. Our programs have helped thousands of young people overcome serious disabilities to become successful learners and achieve rewarding, productive lives.The Almansor Center provides a wide variety of mental health services to include services at our non-public school, outpatient services at over 30 public school districts, dual diagnosed counseling services, which focuses on the entire family unit, case management services at juvenile hall, and therapeutic day nursery for young children. These services focus on individual, family and group counseling, substance abuse counseling, psychotropic medication support, psycho-diagnostic testing and crisis intervention services. | Description | Dayschool:Students referred to The Almansor Center are unable to achieve academic and social goals in a traditional classroom environment. Children are referred to Almansor by over twenty school districts and three regional centers as well as the Department of Rehabilitation, the Department of Mental Health, and the juvenile justice system. Each classroom offers small class sizes limited to twelve students with a minimum of one teacher and one teacher associate per room. | Description | Early Education: Expenses: $ 868,435 Revenue: $731,342The Early Education Department provides an atmosphere that encourages social, physical, emotional and intellectual growth and development of children. The program is based primarily on the developmental needs, interests and experiences of preschool age children. It has been carefully planned to include a balance of quiet and active periods. Academic exposure is offered at the child's rate of intellectual curiosity and advancement. We strive to create an atmosphere that helps each child become aware of the knowledge that he or she is loved, is of infinite worth and respects cultural diversity of all people. Community Outreach: Expenses: $654,614 Revenue: $775,623The Community Outreach Department serves eligible children in Head Start classes. Teachers provide a variety of services that include working within the Head Start classroom on an itinerant basis to help meet the needs of identified Special Education children, facilitating goals with individual children, providing ongoing observations and evaluations, and working with Head Start and District staff to support the transition from Head Start to kindergarten. This grant's objective is to enhance life-skills and decision making for at-risk youth including juvenile delinquents, pre-delinquents and youth on probation so that they can be fully integrated into society. Almansor Diversion Specialists engage youth in a dialogue of self discovery that emphasizes that there are no right or wrong answers; that each response is a clue to a strategy for success; that they are not alone; and that the Diversion Specialist is there to help the student achieve his or her goals. | Description |
