DESCRIPTION OF UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS UNDER FIN 48:PART X:ACCOUNTING FOR UNCERTAINTY IN INCOME TAXES WAS ISSUED TO CREATE A SINGLE MODEL TO ADDRESS ACCOUNTING FOR UNCERTAINTY IN TAX POSITIONS. THIS STANDARD CLARIFIES THE ACCOUNTING FOR INCOME TAXES BY PRESCRIBING A MINIMUM RECOGNITION THRESHOLD A TAX POSITION IS REQUIRED TO MEET BEFORE BEING RECOGNIZED IN THE CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. THIS STANDARD ALSO PROVIDES GUIDANCE ON DERECOGNITION, MEASUREMENT, CLASSIFICATION, INTEREST AND PENALTIES, DISCLOSURE AND TRANSITION. THE CREDIT UNION ADOPTED THIS STANDARD ON JANUARY 1, 2009. AS A RESULT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS STANDARD, THE CREDIT UNION DID NOT RECOGNIZE ANY LIABILITY FOR UNRECOGNIZED TAX BENEFITS.
