| Description | WE WERE CREATED BY THE CITIZENS OF PERRY COUNTY TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN IMPROVING THE OVERALL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THE COMMUNITY. WE DIVIDE OUR WORK INTO THREE PARTS, COMMUNITY BUILDING; WE FACILITATE 2 TASK FORCES THAT ARE CURRENTLY ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY WHICH ARE COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER AND THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND PHILANTHROPY INITIATIVE. WE ALSO LEAD OTHER ACTIVE COMMUNITY PROJECT PARTNERSHIPS SUCH AS THE PERRY COUNTY AGRICULTURAL CENTER AND A HEALTH & WELLNESS COMMITTEE. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 5 PEOPLE TO ATTEND THE BRUSHY INSTITUTE AND COMPLETE 5 DIFFERENT TRACKS ON COMMUNTIY CAPACITY BUILDING; 10 GRANTS AWARDED TOTALING $35,078 TO SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS; AND HOSTED "PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES" TRAINING FOR NON-PROFITS AT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 10 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND 1 INITIATIVE HAVE ESTABLISHED ENDOWMENT FUNDS AT THE FOUNDATION THROUGH A COLLABORATIVE LOCAL FUNDRAISING EVENT, THE 1ST ANNUAL RUN FOR THE HILLS CHARITY CHALLENGE. BOARD, STAFF AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS WORKED TOGETHER TO PLAN THE EVENT AND SET THE STAGE FOR AN ANNUAL COMMUNITY WIDE EVENT PROMOTING LOCAL PHILANTHROPY.CAPACITY BUILDING; PERMANENT STAFF IS IN PLACE, AN OUTSIDE AUDIT AND MANAGEMENT REVIEW WAS CONDUCTED WITH INTENSIVE BOARD FOLLOW UP, SOFTWARE RESEARCH WAS COMPLETED AND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SOFTWARE WAS INSTALLED; THE 1ST ANNUAL RUN FOR THE HILLS CHARITY CHALLENGE WAS HELD TO PROMOTE LOCAL COMMUNITY PHILANTHROPY. THE FOUNDATION PORTFOLIO WAS SUBMITTED TO THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON FOUNDATIONS AND REVIEW COMMENTS WERE RECEIVED.ENDOWMENT BUILDING; WE HAVE IDENTIFIED ENDOWMENT CHAMPIONS AND PREPARATIONS ARE UNDERWAY FOR THE KICK OFF OF THE ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN BEGINNING JANUARY 2012. CFHPC IS A PARTNER IN THE APPALACHIAN RURAL DEVELOPMENT PHILANTHROPY INITIATIVE; CREATING A NETWORK OF COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS, AFFILIATES AND COUNTY FUNDS ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN KY, A MEMBER OF THE APPALACHIAN FUNDERS NETWORK, AND THE NATIONAL CONVERGENCE PARTNERSHIP, A GROUP CREATED BY NATIONAL FOUNDATIONS TO IMPROVE EQUITY IN RESOURCES IN STATES, REGIONS AND COMMUNITIES. THE CFHPC OBTAINED SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH THE ENDOW KY COMMISSION IN JUNE 2011 AND QUALIFIES FOR STATE TAX CREDITS FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO PERMANENT ENDOWMENTS IN COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS. | Description |
