| INTENDED USE OF ENDOWMENT FUNDS | SCH D, PART V, QUESTION 4 | ENDOWMENT FUNDS WERE SET UP TO KEEP JENKINS AFLOAT IF FUNDING WAS EVER LOST. IN THE BEGINNING, 30 YEARS AGO, THIS MIGHT HAVE KEPT JENKINS AFLOAT FOR 2-3 YEARS UNTIL OTHER FUNDING COULD BE OBTAINED. JENKINS HAS GROWN 20 TIMES ITS ORIGINAL SIZE AND THIS MONEY WOULD NO LONGER KEEP JENKINS AFLOAT. HOWEVER, IT COULD KEEP ONE PROGRAM OPERATING IF THAT ONE PROGRAM WERE TO LOSE IT'S FUNDING. FIFTEEN YEARS AGO, THE BOARD VOTED TO GIVE $100,000 TO PAY THE STARTUP COSTS OF THE NEW 20 BED ICMFR WE BUILT. CURRENTLY, WE ARE BUILDING A THERAPY CLINIC AND WE MAY USE $100,000 TO BUILD A FRONT ENTRANCE TO THE JENKINS MAIN BUILDING TO MATCH THE THERAPY CLINIC AND TO ALSO GIVE BETTER HEAT/AIR DRAFT PROTECTION TO THE JENKINS MAIN BUILDING. THE INTENT OF THE ENDOWMENT FUND WAS FOR SURVIVIAL IF FUNDING DISAPPEARED 30 YEARS AGO. CURRENT APPROACH TO ENDOWMENT FUNDS IS ONLY TO BE TOUCHED FOR MAJOR PROJECTS.
