| Description | TROOP PROGRAMGirl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM) is the pre-eminent leadership development organization for girls and young women. Serving more than 62,000 girls and almost 18,000 volunteers in St. Louis City, the St. Louis county area, along with 27 additional Missouri counties, GSEM provides contemporary and progressive programs to meet the needs of today's girls. Through these programs, girls develop qualities including leadership, values, social conscience, and conviction about their own self-worth - which will serve them all their lives. Activities include community service projects, career exploration opportunities, and special interest programs in topics such as science and technology, travel, financial literacy, health, among many others. The council recruits and trains volunteers to assist with program activities and events.CAMPING PROGRAMGSEM's camping program serves over 18,000 girls with opportunities to participate in resident camp, day camp, and family camp, as well as other special interest camp experiences. The council also recruits and trains volunteers to assist with the camping program.The Girl Scout Leadership Experience results in outcomes for girls in three key areas: Discover, Connect and Take Action. Girl Scouts, their parents, their teachers and volunteers report that over 91% of Girl Scouts understood themselves and their value and used their knowledge and skills the explore the world. According to the same assessors, over 95% of Girl Scouts cared about, inspired and teamed with others locally and globally.
