Primary Exempt PurposeThe mission of Imagine Science Films Corp is to promote a high-level dialogue between scientists and filmmakers. This is achieved by encouraging a greater collaboration between scientists who dedicate their lives to studying the world we live in and filmmakers who have the power to interpret and expose this knowledge, ultimately making science accessible and stimulating to a broader audience. Description Program Service AccomIn 2010, Imagine Science Films Corp held its 3rd Annual New York Imagine Science Film Festivals from October 15-22. Forty films from 11 different countries from a submission of over 200 were shown. These films were documentaries, fiction,narratives, animation and music videos. They were shown over eight days in five different venues (cinemas, bars, museums) around New York City (Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan). Events were free of charge except for $15 opening night and closing night ticket fees.In addition, $8 fee was charged on the second day of the event. Our main sponsors were Science/AAAS, Nature Publishing Group, Vimeo, Discover, Center for Inquiry, New Scientist and Partnering Venues, CUNY Graduate Center, Bell House, Tribeca Cinemas, IndieScreen and New York Hall of Science. For 2010, approximately 1,000 attended the screenings and over 40,000 visited our website for the year. In addition, two awards totaling $3,500 were given out to two recipients for the Nature People's Choice and Nature's Scientific Merit awards.DescriptionProgramServiceAccom
