Description Program Service AccomProgram Service Accomplishments 2010In 2010 Humanitarian Wave continued to strengthen its current projects in Mexico, Uruguay and Croatia. Moreover Humanitarian Wave created a partnership with a local San Diego community initiative in an effort to create new opportunities for at-risk children in the city of San Diego. Over 500 people in 4 countries benefit directly from Humanitarian Waves programs and current projects in each of these countries.Mexico:A major accomplishment for the year 2010 is that after many years of working within the community of La Majahua and Troncones a resource committee was formed to help develop humanitarian projects for the region. The committee is formed of local and foreign community members interested in helping the surrounding impoverished communities. This has created an opportunity for the development and funding of new projects as well as an increase in volunteer members. Our current projects with the farmers and fishing Co-op continues to grow with over 5 communities participating. The creation of various bio-fertilizing plants has helped the local farmers of each of the 5 communities by increasing their revenue, technical knowledge of organic agriculture, as well as provided employment to the women of these communities through the farmers stores. Moreover over 30 children and youth in these communities are participating in current projects in the area of environmental sustainability in an effort to educate the communities in the areas of recycling. This particular project was established by the creation and support of a youth sport and cultural program in the town of Los Llanos. Project Impact: Over 150 farmers and their families, and approximately 60 children. Uruguay: For the year 2010 Humanitarian Wave continued to help provide services and support for vulnerable children in Uruguay. The community project in Uruguay has continued growing with new services provided by the youth center in Marindia. This year a new room was added to the center to provide teenage mothers with a place to come to during the day as well as to educate them on child care. Among the new services provided include after school tutoring and medical and dental checkups. The center currently feeds approximately 60 children during the year. An important accomplishment has been the construction and maintenance of the organic agriculture greenhouse as well as the development of land for agriculture. This has helped the center become more sustainable as well as helps provide an educational opportunity in the area of organic agriculture for the children in this impoverished community.Project Impact: Approximately 150 children. Croatia:Humanitarian Wave continues to provide funding to ensure the welfare of sick children in the hospital/orphanage in the city of Zagreb. The funding helps provide assistance in the form of food, clothing and basic medical necessities for 130 children. Project Impact: Approximately 130 children. San Diego, USA:In 2010 Humanitarian Wave united efforts with Mount Hope Boxing (MHB), a local San Diego community initiative in the neighborhood of Mount Hope. The purpose of Mount Hope is to promote the well being of at-risk children and youth of the community through physical and educational programs in a community lacking these kind of resources. This years accomplishments include the creation of new programs through a series of workshops in the areas of arts, music, literacy and sustainable gardening. Additionally funding was provided for sports equipment, clothing and educational material.Project Impact: Approximately 30-35 children.DescriptionProgramServiceAccom
