| Description | Present maritime cultural history of the Central California Coast within an international context through collections and unique, interactive exhibits and educational program. The estimated number of visitors in 2011 was 18,000.The Musuem opened seven new exhibits in the year ended 2011. In addition, nearly 8,000 students visited the Museum, including 287 who spent the night aboard the Spirit of Dana Point Tall Ship. Students also participated in group tours, lectures, live-video feeds, and festivals. Museum volunteers also visit local schools for science fairs to share navigation and charting techniques. The Museum hosted three tall ships this past year, plus Ocean Watch, a ship circumnavigating North and South America. | Description |
