| Description | The organization serves the educational and creative needs of students in the greater Charlotte-Mecklenburg area by providing donated supplies to teachers for use in their classroom and school. Classroom Central serves high-poverty schools in six school districts: Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Gaston, Iredell-Statesville, Union, Kannapolis & Rock Hill. Teachers and other school personnel in qualifying schools shop for free school supplies throughout the academic year. All materials distributed are used to create inviting learning environments and to support students academic and personal growth. In fiscal year 2012 Classroom Central's Teacher Free Store served 206 schools, 9000+ teachers and approximately 132,000 students. Partnering with businesses with trucks and drivers already on the road, Classroom Central also delivered $446,393 worth of supplies to schools on the furthest fringes of CC's footprint through the Mobile Free Store. Through "Backpacks across Charlotte" Classroom Central supplied fully stocked backpacks to 4,341 students in seven schools in the Charlotte region. | Description |
