The Child Development Center at our Safe Campus provides a specialized curriculum for children five and under using a multidisciplined approach as well as understanding and recognizing the unique needs of traumatized children. Our Safe Campus Learning Center, established in the fall of 2010, provides an educational environment free from fear of discovery by the abuser in a two-room schoolhouse at our Safe Campus for children in grades K-2. Children in grades 3-12 receive homework help, tutoring, mentoring and playtime when they return to the Safe Campus from school as well as a summer program when school is not in session. In 2011, we provided 89,840 service hours. |
| DESCRIPTION OF OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES | FORM 990, PART III, QUESTION 4D | Be Project- established in 1999 Our Be Project reaches out to youth in area elementary, middle and high schools, and college campuses teaching them how to stop bullying, teen dating violence and sexual assault. The program is called the Be Project to encourage students to Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Courageous and Be More. The curriculum, which includes a leadership development component, addresses topics including bullying sexual assault, teen dating violence, gender stereotypes, sexual harassment, and healthy versus unhealthy relationships. The curriculum is administered to all students due to the prevalence of sexual violence and to not stigmatize or marginalize victims. Individual counseling for victims of sexual violence is also offered through the Be Project as requested by school counselors and partners and/or by students who make an outcry after receiving classroom education services. Therapeutic groups are conducted with small groups of students to further address topics such as those included in the classroom sessions, as well as provide a safe, supportive environment for personal sharing and peer support. Professional trainings are also offered as part of the Be Project, which assumes a community-based approach to sexual violence to increase the impact and effectiveness of services. In 2011, we provided 23,898 education and service hours. |
