FLORIDA AND GEORGIA EACH HAVE ONLINE REGISTRIES, AND PUERTO RICO IS SOON TO FOLLOW WITH A REGISTRY OF ITS OWN. SINCE THAT TIME AND THROUGH JULY 2010, THE INSTITUTE SURGEONS PERFORMED: - 2,838 KIDNEY TRANSPLANTS - 995 LIVER TRANSPLANTS - 218 PANCREAS TRANSPLANTS - 215 LUNG TRANSPLANTS, AND - 747 HEART TRANSPLANTS THE HEALTHCARE INSTITUTE PHYSICIANS SUCCESSFULLY TREATED SCORES OF PATIENTS WITH RENAL, HEART, LUNG AND LIVER DISEASES AND PROVIDED THE HOPE OF GOOD HEALTH AND LIFE TO THOSE IN NEED. THE INSTITUTE BECAME A LEADER IN PROVIDING HEALTH EDUCATION TO PATIENTS, THE PUBLIC AND REFERRING PHYSICIANS, AND SLOWING THE PROGRESSION OF END-STAGE ORGAN DISEASE AND ITS DISTINGUISHED PARTNERSHIP WITH TAMPA GENERAL HOSPITAL (THE HOSPITAL) LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TARGETED THERAPIES TO HELP THOSE WAITING FOR LIFE-SAVING TRANSPLANTS, AND A PROGRAM BOASTING SOME OF THE BEST TRANSPLANT OUTCOMES IN THE COUNTRY. EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2010, THE HOSPITAL WAS IN A POSITION TO ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR TRANSPLANT SERVICES AND TO ENSURE THE CONTINUED GROWTH AND SUCCESS OF THE ADULT TRANSPLANT PROGRAMS IN TAMPA THE FUNCTIONS OF THE INSTITUTE WERE TRANSITIONED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CARE OF THOSE WHO HAVE RECEIVED - AS WELL AS THOSE WAITING FOR - LIFE-SAVING TRANSPLANTS IS NOW PROVIDED IN LARGE PART BY THE SAME PHYSICIANS AND STAFF, BUT UNDER TAMPA GENERAL HOSPITAL'S GOVERNANCE. THE TRANSPLANT PROGRAM WILL FLOURISH, AND AS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE RECEIVE THEIR SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE IN TAMPA, FLORIDA, LIFELINK WILL ALWAYS REMAIN PROUD OF OUR VISION AND CONTRIBUTION TO THESE REMARKABLE SUCCESSES. IN SUPPORT OF THIS TRANSITION, LIFELINK FOUNDATION AGREED TO FORGIVE OUTSTANDING RECEIVABLES FROM THE INSTITUTE IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,290,108. |
