DescriptionACADEMICS1) University-wide Integrated Health Sciences Initiative LaunchedThe initiative to integrate Nursing and Health sciences leverages Fairfield University's strengths in nursing education, facilitates innovative links with business, engineering, education, social sciences and humanities. It also demonstrates the institution's commitment to cross school collaboration in teaching, research and practice. 2) Career Readiness Initiative LaunchedThe College of Arts & Sciences has launched " Classroom to Career." This is a comprehensive four-year approach to career readiness that is tailored to each academic major in the College. Unique webpages have been developed for each department that guide students the kinds of consideration and activities they should engage in during their Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior years. Links are provided to job-related websites in various professional areas as relevant to the major, connections are made to programming provided by the Career Planning Center, and advise is given about using faculty to leverage internships and other experiential learning opportunities. 3) New Masters Program Fairfield received approval from the State of Connecticut to launch a new Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA), the first of its kind in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The program is designed for individuals already working in the public and nonprofit sectors, including those in state and city governments, public hospitals, and nonprofit organizations, as well as for those who may wish to jumpstart their careers in the nonprofit world.Description

Description of Intended Use of Endowment Funds:Part V, Line 4:The University's endowment is an aggregation of gifts provided by donors with the requirement they be held in perpetuity to generate earnings now and in future years to support the University's programs of instruction, research and public service and funds designated by the Board of Trustees to function as endowment. Earnings from endowment investments support scholarships, chairs, professorships, fellowships, basic research, as well as academic and public service programs.
