| Description | UNH provides an array of capacity-building activities for its members. This includes the following: The completion of professional development sessions for middle managers and staff of college access programs. Each of these programs has been positively evaluated. Ongoing peer groups for Executive Directors; Associated Executive Directors; Development, Communication, Human Resource and Fiscal staff; and a new peer group on food access issues. UNH continues to receive positive feedback on the value of these groups from participants. Internship programs in finance and development for UNH members. Connections to discounted, free or low-cost services from a variety of organizations including Fiscal Management Associates (FMA), NPower, The Non-profit Coordinating Committee ( NPCC) and, National Executive Search Corps (NESC). Small grants to promote collaboration among UNH members and for program enrichment for early childhood and afterschool programs. | Description |

| Description | UNH Policy and Advocacy focuses on issues of importance to our members, with the goal of helping them provide essential services in their communities. Services for children, youth, immigrants and older adults continue as UNHs priority issues, with focus on both funding and program design. UNHs work is carried out through the following: Active engagement of UNH Members in leading and participating in UNH policy, public education and advocacy activities through greater Executive Director engagement and development of staff capacity to carry out these activities. (This was accomplished through ongoing issue specific working groups and the annual UNH Advocacy Conference for UNH member staff). Effective use of communications strategies including both traditional and social media to strengthen policy, public education and advocacy activity through: - UNHs upgraded website which includes specialized advocacy software; -UNH presence through Facebook and Twitter; -UNHs Executive Directors blog; and -Coordination of these activities with UNH members.As a result, UNH and its members have a stronger and more unified voice about budget and policy decisions that are affecting resources for low-income individuals, families and communities. Other accomplishments include the following: Distributed close to $500,000 to UNH members from a number of donors to support their Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts; Convened meetings of settlement house board leaders to discuss issues facing the settlement house network and how UNH members are addressing these challenges; Managed a multi-site project as part of the national Community Experience Partnership that engaged hundreds of older adults in addressing food access issues in their communities. | Description |
