DescriptionSiena College is a coeducational, independent, liberal arts college with a Franciscan and Catholic tradition. Founded in 1937 by seven Franciscan friars, it is located in Loudonville, New York, a suburban community just outside the state's capital. Siena is registered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. All programs are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and the School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. In addition, the Chemistry program is certified by the American Chemical Society, the Social Work program is certified by the Council on Social Work Education, and the Education programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. Siena's 3,194 undergraduates enroll in one of three schools - Liberal Arts, Science, and Business - and may choose to pursue study from a total of 23 departments with 27 majors and certificate programs, and professional curricula in Secondary Education, Pre-Law, and Social Work. 49 graduates have enrolled in the new Masters in Accounting program. On average, 150 students study abroad in a given year. Ninety-FOUR percent of Siena students enter graduate school or find employment immediately following graduation. Admission to the College is competitive. Of the 782 incoming members of the Class of 2015, 23 percent graduated in the top ten percent of their high school class and their average SAT score was 1140. Siena's freshman retention rate for the class entering in the fall of 2011 was 88 percent.Description
