CIRC'S EFFORTS FOCUSED ON EDUCATING THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND LEGISLATORS ON THE HARMFUL IMPACTS OF STATE LEGISLATIVE BILLS RELATED TO IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT, INCLUDING HB-1101, HB-1111, HB-1309, AND SB-1316. IN ADDITION CIRC PARTICIPATED IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION ACCESS ALLIANCE CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT SB-015, COLORADO ASSET, WHICH WOULD HAVE INCREASED ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION FOR IMMIGRANT STUDENTS. IN 2012, CIRC WAS A CO-CONVENER OF LATINO AND LATINA ADVOCACY DAYS, A TRAINING, PUBLIC EDUCATION AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL RELATED TO A NUMBER OF ISSUES IMPORTANT TO THE LATINO COMMUNITY, SUCH AS EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, IMMIGRATION AND CIVIL RIGHTS. IN 2012, CIRC ALSO PROVIDED NON-PARTISAN PUBLIC EDUCATION TO VOTERS IN SUPPORT OF AMENDMENT 65, A BALLOT ISSUE IN THE 2012 GENERAL ELECTIONS. AMENDMENT 65 INSTRUCTED COLORADO'S CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO SUPPORT PASSING AN AMENDMENT TO U.S. CONSTITUTION AUTHORIZING LIMITS ON CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS AND SPENDING THAT PROMOTE A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD AND ENSURE THAT ALL CITIZENS, REGARDLESS OF WEALTH, HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK. | Explanation |
