| Description | House of the Children Projects in Peru are developed under the name "Rainforest Flow". The following program services were accomplished in three remote native villages located in the Manu Rainforest of Peru: Native Village of Yomybato:1. Built a gravity flow water system with a 7km/4 mile distribution line that delivers clean water to 30 village homes, serving 240 people. 2. Built 23 eco friendly tap stands with greywater drains at village homes. 3. Implemented basic health and hygiene classes for school children.4. Conducted base line health exams with parasite and anemia testing.5. Implemented technical and vocational training for the villagers in the building, repair and maintenance of their water system. Native village of Tayakome:1. Built two additional taps stands with greywater drains at village homes.2. Implemented technical and vocational training for villagers and the water and sanitation committee in the building, repair and maintenance of their infrastructure. 3. Advanced health and hygiene training for village health promoter.4. Weekly hygiene classes with school children.5. House to house visits to teach basic maintance6. Conducted yearly health exams with parasite and anemia testing.7. Biyearly community meetings were conducted with the villagers to address their overall needs at the communal level. Native village of Huacaria:1. Built two tap stands with greywater drains at a village home and at the community/tourist center. 2. Two technical supervision visits to the community to monitor water and sanitation infrastructure built in 2004-2006.3. Community meeting with villagers to reinforce long term sustainability of the infrastructure. | Description |
