| Mission Description | THE HEAD START COMMUNITY PROGRAM OF MORRIS COUNTY PROVIDES A FREE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM THAT MEETS THROUGHOUT THE TRADITIONAL SCHOOL YEAR. THE PROGRAM WHICH IS OPERATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATIONAL HEAD START PROGRAM GUIDELINES, GOES FAR BEYOND BASIC CHILDCARE SERVICES, MEETING THE EDUCATIONAL, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, HEALTH AND NUTRITIONAL NEEDS OF ITS CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. HEAD START IS ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS CREATED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. CHILDREN WHO HAVE THE HEAD START EXPERIENCE GAIN SELF-CONFIDENCE AND DEVELOP A PATTERN OF SUCCESS. THEY ACHIEVE IN THE EARLY ELEMENTARY YEARS TO A GREATER EXTENT THAN CHILDREN FROM SIMILAR BACKGROUNDS WHO DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE HEAD START PROGRAM. | MissionDescription |
