| Description | Residential - LCFS is committed to helping children and youth, especially those who are at risk. We have two residential programs for youth who need specialized help. They are: Lutherbrook and Southern Thirty Adolescent Center (STAC).Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center provides specialized residential treatment for children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties (stemming mostly from child abuse and neglect). Lutherbrook helps them learn to trust others and form positive relationships, especially with adults. The goal of treatment for each child is to resume family and community living.Additionally, we provide educational services. Lutherbrook Academy serves children age 5-21 who have severe learning disabilities (LD), behavior disorders (BD), social/emotional disabilities (SED) and high functioning mentally impaired children who are also LD, BD or SED.Southern Thirty Adolescent Center (STAC) is a 30-day shelter and diagnostic program for adolescents 11-17. STAC provides emergency shelter care, clinical assessments, counseling and family intervention. | Description |

| Description of Uncertain Tax Positions Under FIN 48: | Part X: | The Agency, an Illinois nonprofit corporation, is exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and applicable state law, except for the taxes pertaining to unrelated business income, if any. The accounting standard on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Under this guidance, the Agency may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the Agency and the various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. There were no unrecognized tax benefits identified or recorded as liabilities during the period covered by these financial statements. The Agency files form 990 in the U.S. federal jurisdiction and the state of Illinois. The Agency is generally no longer subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service for fiscal years before 2009. |
