The School has filed for and received income tax exemptions in the various jurisdictions where it is required to do so. The School files Forms 990 and 990-T (information and tax returns) in the U.S. federal jurisdiction and their equivalents in the state of Virginia. With few exceptions, the School is no longer subject to U.S. federal, state, and local income tax examinations by taxing authorities for years before 2008. The School adopted the provisions of FASB ASC 740 (FIN 48), Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes, on July 1, 2009.
